Hi guys, please could i get some advice on 245 45 18 tyres. I've come across a really good deal on a set of Nokian WR A3, 245 45 18 tyres. I have stock everything, suspension, rims and currently stock tyres 235 40 18. I am wondering if i will be able to fit the nokian 245 45 18 tyres and will i have any issues?

Eh, I don't know. That is 1.28 inches taller overall than OE. That's a pretty big difference. It may work with OE suspension but not a promise. (emphasis on may)

Thank you for your reply. Like i have mentioned i am getting a really good deal so is there any way i could use wheel spacers? There are universal wheel spacers 5mm online for a few quid or even 10mm. Would that work? Is it dooable or is it dangerous and i should rather just stick to stock size or something others have tried.

Thank you for your help in advance, it is much appreciated.

Wheel spacers would only solve an issue with tire width (it's only 10mm wider than OE), which is not the problem - it's height.

If you wanted to "test" the theory - Take half of 1.28 (which is .64) and add that to the top of your current tire then bounce the car or figure out a way to compress the suspension while the wheel is turned and see where it would hit if at all. That's the only way to find out, other than mounting the tire and testing it.

Ah yes a quick google search and i figured that spacers would not help in terms of height. So i've just quickly done a rough measure, there is plenty clearance to the outside of the tyre and wheel arches however the clearance between the tyre and suspension towards the inside of the wheel is about 1 inch. With 0.64inch (16.25mm) on top of the tyre there is about 0.36 inch (9mm ish) clearance. That is without any load. I'm not sure how much suspension travels under load but if it helps usually theres a maximum of 2 people in the car most of the time.

Regardless it seems like too much trouble for a set of tyres. I could have got the tyres for £100 from a friend, these are Nokian WR A3 tyres with roughly 6mm tread. But if they are not going to fit and even if they do fit but cause rubbing then its a waste of £100 in my eyes.

Please do let me know what you think, whether it is worth it or not and with the rough idea of the clearance whether its dooable.

Thank you.

Sorry Photos not that crash hot but you get the idea
Hey @Captaincarveup do these rub at all? Its the same set up that I am looking at going with, different wheel ofcourse but never the less same size wheel, offset and tire size

QUESTION!
I am searching for new tires. I do not do autocross or track the car. I occasionally go up Angeles Crest Highway and canyon carve. My question is: will Federal SS 595 size, 235/40/18 fit perfectly on the stock snowflake wheels? Has anyone tried these tires. I am really leaning towards them due to their pricing and overall good reviews. THANK YOU

hows tire clearance with 235? i was thinking about getting a bigger set of tires for mine so it isn't stretched. i'm on factory suspension as well. still a couple weeks before i put mine on the car.

With the 235, everything is good. No signs of rubbing on the tires at all even after having them on there for a few months (and I have a pretty bouncy ride across one of the bridges home from work). I really wanted to go with a wider tire myself (hoping for an improvement in traction). Let me know what you go with and how it works out for you. I will warn you that I am a little disappointed in how the paint on the Advan's hold up. I read that they supposedly do 3 coats and bake them after each coat, but my wheels are looking like I do most of my driving in gravel (small rock chips) which I am almost entirely highway miles between Tampa to Clearwater). Others who have seen them state that I should not be experiencing the issue to this extent unless they did not receive a proper clear coat (including the shop that sells wheels that I used to have them installed). Not sure how much it would help, but maybe look at doing a ceramic coat on the wheels before having them installed.
