I'm not saying we can beat an st, not once did I say that. But when you guys have nodded st with the same parts as a modded vt, and we run pretty close..... that is impressive. Especially from a 1.6 with no torque vectoring to help it.
I'm sure its closer than most of the guys on here would like to admit, and same with the Fiesta ST.. but i mean its recorded fact that the Focus is markedly faster than Fiesta, and the VT's numbers are comparable to the latter... Mod for mod comparison is a difficult comparison to make. Results are results, and stock is the best way to compare cars (sadly). There will always be outliers and variables when comparing modded cars... Just how you say the VT is closer than we think, there are guys on this forum that say the ST is "closer than (you) think" to WRX's and Evo's when deep down we all know stock for stock its not a comparison. Just know that what you are saying sounds just as ridiculous to us as what we might sound like to them. Granted we are all close in some regards, but variables and imperfect conditions make our cars look closer than they really are. Know that.

I traded a Veloster Turbo for my ST. The only things I miss from my Veloster is the backup camera, the storage under the radio, the 12v to 120v inverter, turning radius, and I think the nav might be little better. That's about it. I also think the dash materials and doors have better looking plastic than the ST's.
The ST handles much better, more power, better seats, much smoother ride, MFT is way better than Bluelink. I never loved my Veloster but love my ST.

Wow maybe you should go back to the VT

There is an old hot rodders saying, "there is no replacement for displacement". That is as true today as it was in the 50's. So no matter what you do to the VT, you can do to the ST and make more power.

Ultimately you will find the limits if the block and again the ST will have the advantage in the availability of stronger blocks by virtue of the strong racing program Ford has.

1. Interior Style - ST2/3 > VT > ST1. 8” touchscreen really makes the interior on the ST IMO
2. Interior Quality - ST, VT had rattles with cheap plastic everywhere
3. Exterior Style - ST
4. Power / Performance - ST by far. Don’t really care which one is faster. ST feels faster and is way more fun to drive. I don’t race. I care more about how the car feels than it’s actual performance.
5. Handling - ST
6. Fuel Economy - Tie. I’m getting same MPG with ST as VT. I can baby the ST during daily driving without people tailgating or honking to tell my ass to go faster. Cruising with ST 60mph on freeway archived 36mpg versus 38mpg on VT. But that was just to see how fuel efficient the cars could be. My normal driving yielded 26mpg on both cars mixed city/freeway
7. Price - ST I don’t go by price. I go by value and the ST has far more value for me

There really isn't a comparison other than the class of the car. Price, performance, handling, etc. all fall into the Fiesta ST category and even then, I'd still go with the FiST. I don't think that the Veloster Turbo is a bad car and I actually really like it's rear styling (I love the exhaust cutout in the bumper) but there's just better options.
