Bought out the lease on my ST. I had previously gone thru the website and have this recall and the hatch recall open on my VIN. During the processing, dealer told me no open recalls on my vehicle. Lindsay Ford of Wheaton MD folks: incompetent to the max.

yeah my brother has a Focus SE and he called the dealer that we both bought our vehicles from they told him no recall on his vehicle also. So he called the dealership that I normally go to and they told him yes he has a recall to bring it in. So we're bringing him in on the same day

So the last few days once my car is warmed up and idling it seems like it wants to die. Idle is very erratic and will drop down to about 500 RPM then back up to around 800. Is this an early sign that my purge valve is bad. I have an appointment to have the recall done but it's not for another month. Up to this point I haven't had any problems. But the car does only have seven thousand miles on it.

Has anyone else had the same issues and then found out that their purge valve had failed. Like I said I have another month for my recall gets performed I'm worried about possibly being out somewhere away from home and having the car stall and not being able to get it started. Like I said it hasn't started yet but I don't want it to happen while I'm out somewhere in the cold I'm in New York.

I started noticing my idle dropping down to 500 from time to time a couple months ago.

Then I got a CEL P1450 vacuum system related.

Then my car started sputtering when starting after filling up the tank.

Then my car cranked for almost 10 seconds before starting and sputtering after a fill up. Not filling all the way seems to reduce this somewhat.

3-4 minutes after the last partial fill up, the car almost stalled on the road. The battery charge light came on for a second as it was sputtering. I started thinking about renting a car until this was resolved, as stalling out on a highway can be fatal.

So, for my 2016 ST, this has gotten steadily worse since the first clues. I've been waiting over a week for the purge valve to come in and it is finally coming in overnight for replacement at Ford tomorrow.

I would recommend anyone starting to show symptoms to get this fixed sooner rather than later, if my car getting steadily worse is typical.

I had mine replaced 30k miles ago, starting to fail again. Sigh

Ford told me the part has been redesigned, so if you get the redesigned part with the recall, maybe it will last longer.
I hope it's redesigned but I'm not holding my breath on that.

I had mine replaced under this recall and the part number for the new valve is the same as the one they've been using - BV6Z-9D289-E

That said, if mine fails again, I won't replace it with another FoMoCo part. There are other options:

So my car killed on me while doing 35mph. I clutched in to shift from 3rd to 4th and the RPMs fell to 0. I got a P0420 code and brought it to Ford. They told me the PCM update is still not available for the 13/14 cars.

What does the recall have to do with your cat or O2 sensors

P0420 is one of the codes listed Ford checks for when is comes to the recall for the purge valve.

They're probably looking for downpipe mods.

It is the code for the purge valve but it also is one of the codes for having an aftermarket downpipe

I still don't understand what a catalyst code would have to do the EVAP system.

I would think it's because the ECU believes the purge valve is working and expects the reading from the O2 to reflect that. When it isn't seeing the hydrocarbons it expects, it thinks that either the O2 or purge valve is not working correctly.

I agree, but the Ford mechanic pulled up the steps for the recall and one of the codes to check for is that code. The car killed on me twice back in January. I was FBO and Tuned...no code came up. I was talking to my tuner and since I have an aftermarket dp they basically delete that code. After I pulled the tune and she killed on me, it threw that code.

For those that have a 13/14 and have gotten the valve changed by Ford. How has the car been without the PCM update (still unavailable)?

I changed the purge myself, no PCM update. My '13 was fine before and has been fine since. I typically dont go under a quarter a tank in general but kept to refueling by half once i read about the recall prior to replacing the part. Do sleep better knowing the part that could cause all these headaches has been replaced with the updated one? Sure, i guess but its well worth the $40 out of pocket for the part not to worry. I also checked out my fuel tank, no visible signs of deforming either.

With my stalling out on me multiple time I may need to PCM update. I am going to see if Ford will put it on since the car is there and they ordered a new purge valve for me. They were waiting on th4 PCM update. This waiting is getting old.
