The execution of how the gauges are mounted to speaker grill can be done differently for a less "aggressive" look. A little creativity, some vinyl, individual pods and patience could make that happen. Not to mention with that $140 piece you're stuck with whatever angle they've made the mold at. I applaud you guys for your work and am following this thread and looking forward to your write up!

Agreed., but I have neither crafting skills or patience.. I can always do something different later if it's not what I expect. So far the reviews have been good on the build quality and viewing angle (http://www.focusst.org/forum/showpost.php?p=738530). As far as the gauges/cost: I did the glowshift for about $150 for the set. I'm sure they are better than stock, but if they suck (doubtful) I can always upgrade and find some ricer to buy them 'brah'. Honestly it seems the more expensive gauges have feature I didn't need, like more colors, warning lights, peak memory, etc. Time will tell. Peace.

Good luck

The one by boz bros looks kinda cheap and ricey canadian tire look to me. I get what you are saying about the gauges sticking out though. I would have been fine with something like this that lowers the gauges. The boz bros one sticks up way to high imo.

I too like this more sleek look, but Boz had to use the same space as the stock gauge pod. This latest rev is much more "low profile" than their first design.

I'm looking forward to the write up and parts list for this DIY style.

Good debate. I think we can all agree that the a-pillar mount is less preferred than either boz or DIY.

The only thing I don't like about their pod is the gauges are to far apart for my taste. If they were closer together I'd buy it. Until someone makes one I like I'm going to use the diy method.

Exact reason me and Brandon did the DIY, the boz pod looks like it was very quickly thrown together and not really all that well thought out.

Both have trade offs that you have to consider before diving in.

BosBros: Fixed angle but hidden wires and integrated look

NCJB/B ST: User defined angle with free format gauge size but exposed wires and bolted-to-dash look

Now that we have that out of the way, as nice as both pods are lets keep this thread on track.
@NCJB If you want me to clean your thread up simply report the posts or PM me.

No worries thanks! I do like a clean look but after finally getting these in I love how aggressive it looks. I'm not one to be subtle with mods :p

That's preeeetttyyy.. If I had the cash for those I'd probably go with them but that's too expensive for a non-go faster part for the moment..
Some of the most accurate if not the most accurate gauges on the market. If you really want to know what your car is doing these are awesome. If you want gauges to an estimate or for looks take your pick.

Yeah, those Defi are the best out there, and you DO get what you pay for lol. I am semi curious what other brands are well rated other then prosport. I wouldn't trust GloGauges personally.

I wish I had the coin for full Defi, but I wouldn't make that large of investment unless I went BT....which is not in any foreseeable future

at least for $200 you don't need a controller unit for the Defi. Prosport also doesn't need a controller, but I wonder what their +/- tolerances are on their gauges. I love the Defi Racer units, but whew $650 for 3 gauges...plus the cluster cost if you want to house it, and still don't have visors :p

Wish I could be of help on that one haha. Still trying to decide if I even wanna go full bore with replacing gauges. Even $400 is a lot of money to look pretty and be slightly more accurate then the ECU gauges. I think I might make my own cluster housing (like the ones found in STI's with the shade lip over top of the gauges) and make it from carbon or make a texture finished fiberglass one.

Found out it seems that the defi visor comes as a full pod assembly. Still want to find out if the prosport visor will fit. Anyone want to send me one or the measurements?

i like the raw in your face setup like the topic starter has done, but i also like the clean look of the molded gauges also. but the placement seems a little bit off hard to tell from the pics at least with the others you can point them the way you want.
