BozBros Performance - THUMBS DOWN

June 27th: I ordered and paid for the Hood Lift Kit.

July 14th: I asked for an order status since I hadn't heard boo from them since the order confirmation two weeks prior. To their credit they responded that day and told me that they had received the struts and would ship them out per Doug Boswell.

July 30th: No product or emails and it's now over a month since my order. I emailed BozBros and told them this was ridiculous and to refund my money. They responded that there was a miscommunication and they had not received my order, really? We exchanged emails about my order 2 weeks prior!!! They promised a refund...

Aug 5th: No Paypal refund (typically post same day with no delay) I asked for the status of the refund and they said it had been processed but it would take a while.

Aug 16th: I asked, "Still no money - do I need to ask for it on the forum?" Typically NOT my style but I have been patient enough as it is now 9 weeks into this ordeal. I got a smartass response from Doug Boswell that starts off with "First off...." wtf?

My final response:

"Now my turn, first off… You claim you didn't know about my order though you had sent me an email telling me the struts had just arrived, after I made inquiry about them. Then at least a week later having not received my product I paid for I asked for a refund. You said you processed right away. Now I've got nothing. I tried to work with you through email but you have haven't return my money you didn't ship my product so yes I'm going to need the forum. If you don't like it then learn how to be better at customer service."

It is now the 24th of August, my Paypal account has yet to see anything from these clowns. I run a business and have been a business owner on and off most of my life.

Rule 1. Don't sell what you don't have

Rule 2. Don't lie to a customer about the status of their order, tell the truth let the chips fall where they may

Rule 3. Don't smart off and act like you're doing the customer a favor by refunding their money after they have patiently waited over 9 weeks!

In closing I was told that if I had not received my refund by a few Tuesday's ago that I needed to contact them again.. well no Doug, I am not. I refuse to do your job for you...

Wow. Some of you cats are far more patient and forgiving than I seem to be these days.
Go straight to PayPal, assuming that's how you paid, to straight to disputing the charge. You will have your refund in a week's time give or take a couple days. Unless I have been informed prior to purchase of delays or backorders I fully expect a purchase to be settled in under 2 weeks time pretty much with out exception. I don't even screw around with the apologetic miscommunication bs after that window.
Boz Bros has had the opportunity to do right by you now its time to take your money back. Eff 'em.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience but poor customer service is all too common these days. Don't let them string things along until you have difficulty getting a refund...go with your gut, it's usually right. Vendors often don't realize that ultimately they're all selling customer service and that will ultimately determine how things go with their business. I recently purchased a set of OSS headlights for my 335 as OSS is widely recognized as the best at aftermarket headlight modifications for BMW and although they do fantastic work, their customer service is horrid and I will most likely be filing a charge back through my bank because they have completely ignored me since charging my card.

I’ll just share my experience as well, to maybe help save someone else from dealing with all the frustration and headache that comes from doing attempting to do business with these guys.

Back in mid-January, my wife ordered me a TS shift knob with a red ST logo on top (the only vendor offering something like that at the time), with a stated two week lead time on the item at the time of purchase, for Valentine ’s Day. Valentine’s Day came and went and there was still no knob. Okay I thought, there might have just been a slight delay, so I started emailing them trying to figure out what was going on. From February until early June, I would send a weekly email asking what the status of the knob was and when I should expect it. I would get the same answer, should be about a week, waiting on a response from the fabricator. This dragged on for over FOUR months with me continuing to ask about the knob. In late March, I saw a post about how all the knobs were done and shipping out. I thought weird, I still hadn’t received a tracking number, so I inquired again and he said my order must have got lost in the paperwork and they were wondering why they had an extra blank knob. This is what set me off. I had been continually asking about my order and somehow my order was overlooked. These guys run a business?

This is where their supposedly GREAT customer service kicked in. We will give you 30% refund and you can still have the knob. I thought okay I have waited 3 months already, I can wait a little longer for a lower price. Then over a month later, still getting the same responses with no knob coming in and no 30% refund, my wife had to file a report with the credit card company just to get our money back. After the money was given back to us by the credit card company, Boz sends me this email quoted below;

“I have already responded to you fiances email explaining i gave the 30% refund and she filed a claim with the CC company to get her money back and she did. I was planning on giving the knob to you anyway even tho i would be out 130$ and the knob. I also informed her that i was told the knob had been shipped thats why i had not bothered you anymore. I do apologize for this i am only relaying what i am being told by my vendor.”

To put the cherry on top, during the long drawn out process, I had asked if I could have a BOZ Bros shirt as an act of good faith since it was taking so long. I expected that the answer would be no, so no big deal, but they said yes that would be no problem. Guess what, up until this day, (SEVEN months later) there is still no knob or shirt.

These guys just tell you what you want to hear. Save your money and go somewhere else. I thought I would let this go, but it seems like every group buy with them on the forums, everybody is having the exact thing happen to them (steering wheels, gauge pods, hood lifts). Hopefully I can save someone from all the headache and frustration that comes from dealing with these guys. I’ll just leave it at this, if they were offering something for free on their site, I wouldn’t even bother.

I apologize again for this. I am unsure why this is still a problem. I sent you a 30% because of the time delay and then you filed a charge back from the CC company and got your $110 back. I understand you didnt get your product however you did get an additional 30% back and your money. So you received back $143 for an item that was only $110. When the CC charge back was initiated I stopped the shipment of the product. I understand your frustrations and Again I am sorry for the problem you had with our company.

Sorry man, I had to spam them with emails and private messages.... I waited for 4 weeks for a tracking number. It is not hard to copy and paste a freaking number but apparently it is too hard for them.
I finally spent 1 hour trying to figure out who had my package. Eventually UPS filled me in on a delivery day. A couple more weeks and finally got them in. Absolutely the worst transaction I've been involved with over the last 5 years, and worst on here period. Last time I will ever order from them, period.

I was also one of the 3 or more people that they forgot to order our struts and had to wait another month for them... to be drop shipped???? When does drop shipping take 3.5 weeks?!

Hood struts ARE a fiasco.

Fixed that for ya... if they had come back and said they had cash flow issues and wanted me to wait for my refund I would have gladly. I feared the PayPal protection time limit so I filed with them.

Not to excuse them but I think part of the issue is how small some of these businesses are. People are wearing too many hats and not all of them are capable of pulling it off. At this point I think we've heard issues about literally every single vendor here. Difference is how they tend to handle the problems when they crop up.

Not an excuse for not following up and letting me know... I run a small business and life isn't perfect.. the very second I smell something is awry I tell my customer immediately.

I got lucky on the Hood Strut Group Buy. They had my address wrong, completely left the Unit # off. I was tracking it and tracking it, finally saw USPS attempted delivery and could not deliver. I hit them up through Facebook, to their credit I did get a response right away that Doug would fix the issue in the morning.

The next day the USPS Driver ended up delivering the hood struts with another package I was planning on getting. Had I not gotten that package the next day, I wouldn't of gotten my struts either lol.

While the experience I have had has been ok, I will personally be looking for a vendor that actually stocks..... something. Every single item from them is drop shipped it seems. I work in manufacturing, my customers are distributors. If you my distributors don't stock my product, then they don't get the opportunity to sell it. They just seem to come off as more of a middle man than an actual distributor.

I'd never wish anything bad on another persons legal business. I hope they get their issues fixed, and get to a point they can stock material and not just drop ship everything. I'll give them another shot when that is the case.

I had just bought a Steering wheel from Boz Bros and in the whole time of the production process, I received no communication (6 wk process)
I e-mailed them once asking for an update, during those six wks NOOOO response.
Out of the blue I receive a notice in my mail box saying its shipped, TWENTY MINUTES LATER the UPS guy shoes up with my wheel.
COOL but WTF?!

I don't think i'll be going through that company, very shady.

P.S.

I'm left handed and my writing is bad, but on the invoice of my steering wheel looked like a drunken guy that put the pencil...PENCIL in his nose and wrote on the paper.

No thank you, however thanks for the Steering Wheel Boz Bros but sorry, never again.

It's scary to see all this. I ordered and paid for the hood struts and some carbon fiber exhaust trim back in the middle of June. I still have nothing. Just a bunch of back and forth emails.

What a shame.

jesus man, you STILL dont have those parts?! You were with us in the GB... thats such a shame! They never got the tracking numbers from CPC, the makers of the hood struts.. as I had to contact CPC directly to even find out that my parts were shipped. I got an email from BroBoz about a week AFTER the shipping was processed from CPC saying they were being shipped. Best yet, CPC sent them super snail mail as it was not dictated by broboz to ship anything faster (even though at this point is was nearly a month after everyone had already gotten their struts in their hands.

This is the risk you have to take with people slinging parts out of their mom's basement or anywhere without a real store front. Some people are dedicated and others don't give a rat's ass.

I believe we all need to get off our butts and contact the BBB and let them know whats going on. Gentlemen we don't need toxic Co. in our fine community.
I also feel that admins need to be aware of this on the site, as well as CPC. They dont want anyone getting a bad name out there for products that are turned poorly by their "distributors".

@Fuxalt or @sda3 ... just wanted to point this thread out as an FYI, not 100% sure who to direct this to.

I have dealt with BozBros twice. The first time was the OBD Accessport Power Disruptor Cable - this item was expected to have a 4-6 week lead time. I got it about a week after I ordered it. Way sooner than I expected.

The second time was this hood strut group buy. I was one of the few they forgot. I did have to send a few reminder emails.. but I eventually got my hood struts. Also, they promised me a 10% refund which I had to remind them of. But, they did give it to me.

Between the two orders I have - I would give them 3 stars out of 5. I think the big issue is they are typically a middle man - and it complicated their business a bit.

Just my 2 cents.

I say get these clowns out of here before they scam more members of the community. Sounds like they don't have anything together at all. These stories are horrible. I haven't ordered from them but reading all of these I would never take a chance.

I'm really sorry to hear about the trouble some of you are having. I was in on the very first hood strut group buy, and I had no issues at all. As far as this site doing anything about vendors, I can show you plenty of PM's from the admins and a vendor on this site from the early days. You're on your own people.

my guess would be they function based on the drop shipping model.
I've been waiting on a part from them for 3 weeks now.
Every week I ask they say they'll contact the manufacture but never did fallow up on that.
It's getting frustrating everyday i go open my mail box and it's not there.

I was on the same hood strut GB and i got mine the next few days they say they shipped.

they responded to my PayPal dispute, they claim I told them I got my money back. I went through every single email and I've never told them I received back my refund. However a simple check with their own account would tell them whether they refunded my money or not.

First of all, the moderation staff is NOT to intervene in any activities involving vendors and members and money. Since this is not the first time that issues have come to light involving the vendors and members I can tell you that the admin staff wont moderate vendor's financial transactions with members, there are other more effective means of resolution. If BozBros was actively scamming our memberbase then it would be a completely different story.

#32 ·
Let's see how this pans out. so far its only 3-4 people out of i don't know how many customers he has that have some sort of serious issue. Wait for BozBros to gather some facts on their end and let's see where this goes.

#33 ·
You are correct should have things gone different absolutely. I took for fact that the book keeping done by my site was accurate and I have found out it is not and I am working to resolve that . As of right now you have started a dispute with paypal to get your money back and I did not fight it in fact I admitted error on our part and will gladly refund you your money. Once again I apologize for the inaccuracy of the status.

As far as the Hood strut "FIASCO" goes this time around was a bit more difficult than the others. The problems with GB is you have to wait for everyone to pay and then make the order. I dont keep that kind of Inventory in stock and thats why GB's are done and Im sure that a select few vendors actually stock "ALL" the parts. Sorry for all the confusion and problems with the group buy.
