Don't expect emails to get answered, you have to call them individually.
I was afraid of that. I guess I'll give a few of them a call tomorrow morning before class.

a quick question, any particular reason why you use 4 piston calipers instead of 6?

It comes down to preference. The four piston a slightly large piston surface area which gives them more torque, slight increase in pedal travel, and less modulation. The six have less surface area better modulation, less torque, and less pedal travel.

Next time we get together you can try then out.

I've only ever had a 4 piston (STI Brembos on my WRX), so I couldn't compare the two. If I do any upgraded calipers though it will probably be the VMaxx kit from RDC. Its barely any more than buying the 13.1" rotors and the FNSL calipers from TCE. Too bad its still expensive :crying:

Just wanted to throw this out and ask the question.

Looking at the EBC URS1592's for this upgrade. Would you guys mind checking that these rotors will work for this brake upgrade? These are matching rotors to the ones I put on the front with my Wilwood caliper kit so want to keep the rotors the same if possible. Then I will get the caliper brackets and do this upgrade.

Thanks for confirming for me guys much appreciated.

They should work. I am running GD1592's on my set up (see post #129). It is the same number; only the series is different (USR vs GD).

Any rotor should work that was originally meant for the V70 with the 302mm rotor.

Glad this thing has gotten off the ground and the kinks have been worked. I have kind of lurked in this thread for quite a while to see what would come of it and am very impressed by @Kevin's research and "bird-dogging" to find an affordable brake solution. I just got some Mazda 6 calipers AND brackets from some used parts supplier in TN for $60, so I may have an extra set of calipers (or a reason to join the Mazda6 forums). Ordered my EBC USR-1592 rotors from THMotorsports, so hopefully everything comes in before track day May 9-10. So, esentially, for only about $100 more than what I planned on spending (for 11" EBC rotors in the rear) I got almost an inch larger rotor and brackets with calipers I may be able to recoup some of the cost from.

Cheers!

Anyone have a spare bracket so we can make an aftermarket one
Does this mean a kit might be coming soon? Because that would make me feel much better about putting off calling all the junkyards to find some...

go to car-part.com and just look for the calipers. I called two places and had them ordered in 10 minutes.

I know where to get them, I'm just lazy. Plus, I keep waiting for hemiCouple to post up the part numbers for the 13.1" front upgrade, so I can do both at the same time.

I decided against that since there is a lack of aftermarket rotors in that size--which you already know.

FYI, the stock 13.1" are vented with straight vanes. Also they are vented on the outside of the rotor compared to the inside on he 12.6" rotors. Just a wild guess but I assume this design allows air to flow through the rotor better. I don't know that to be fact but I think I'm right.

Even the 13.1" stock rotors are an upgrade over the 2013 design. Plus, it's only $175 with shipping, so bigger rotors on all 4 corners come out to around $300ish. The stock brakes have plenty of stopping power with the right pads, the only problem is heat. Bigger rotors will help that problem, and there's no real performance reason to go with slotted, so no reason to pay more for aftermarket rotors. That's my theory anyway.
