Just curious... is there a way to find out the production build numbers on the ST?
With my SVT, I just called with my vin# and they told me the build number and gave me the option of ordering documentation for it.

Are they even doing this with the ST?

I somewhat agree, but i dont want to see them all over the place. I think, and would hope that they just dont mass produce them like the base Focus, Fusion, ect. Just keep it so that every dealership has maybe 1-3 in stock at all times. First off, its not really a huge market. Most people want economy (Fiesta,Focus) or muscle (Mustang). I guess a combination of both is nice though, thats the main reason why we all wanted it i would guess... idk..

Personally i like having a rare(r) car. Its basically a sleeper. I like low profile power ha.

Those of us current and former SVT owners realize the exclusivity of these vehicles when it comes to an overall performance package. I'm still getting offers from people on the road asking me if I want to sell the Lightning..... this, after 200,000 miles. I hope they stick to a small number of cars here in the U.S. Because it's Ford, we'll always be able to get parts for them. The only concern I would have is body parts, if needed down the line.

Wow, very surprised to hear these numbers since the car is so great. The sales will definitely spike once the weather warms up. I don't mind the low numbers. Makes me feel exclusive :D

I don't buy into that number. I've seen a few on the road already. All the ones I've seen were in NJ. seems unlikely that if 750 have sold that would mean 15 per 50 states...and I've seen more than one and commute 3 miles a day?

Also aren't the first 1000 ordered getting a gopro?
That would mean my order from 2 weeks ago would qualify but I haven't heard a thing about it...

the gopro was a promo that ended in like Oct. of last year. Those who preordered their cars like me got one. It was the previous GoPro. Not even the latest. I too am surprised by 750 units sold. Then again its a nitch market. Hopefully they sell a few more. that way i can buy another one in a few years and park it in the garage for the grandkids(in 25 years) lol.

I agree. Even in that article there's some weirdness going on.

750 sold thru this week, but then they say ST's will account for "about 4 percent" of Focus sales. It's difficult to pin down a recent sales number but from January-July 2012 Ford had sold 147k Focuses in the US. 4% of that number is 5,600. So either their estimate is wildly off or the number is low. I suppose time will tell, and it is definitely a great summer car, so perhaps we'll see an uptick as the weather improves.

There were only 685 Focus EVs sold last year. More than half of them are still at the dealers. So I don't doubt the ST numbers quoted. I'm a bit concerned that 75% of the STs were the higher end models and the rest of the ST1s are sitting at dealers. I'm beginning to wonder how long the Focus ST is going to be sold. The ST-R isn't racing this year, or at least I can't find a team that is running it. Overall, Ford did well with the Focus line last year but I think this year is going to be tight.

The car went on sale Aug. 21 and has sold 750 through this week, with 73 percent of them top-trim level ST3s, a $4,400 upgrade that includes heated Recaro performance seats, said Seema Bardwaj, North America ST brand manager.

The expectation is the ST will account for about 4 percent of Focus sales in America, Bardwaj said

Read it a little more carefully. 750 from aug. to now isn't totally unbelivable. And they expect ST to be 4% of focus market... not that it is 4% now. Focus did good last year? Only the best selling vehicle in the world. I would say that is doing good.

73% sold are of the ST3 trim? I find that a bit hard to believe.
