Focccus PC app as-built editor AND all around reprogrammer - Discussion

UPDATED: March 20, 2015

Updating with working features.
1. Global open/close windows.
2. Removal of shift light.
3. After market HIDs
4. Add Hill Assist to non ST model
5. Turn on ecoscout display
6. Windshield wiper motor calibration
7. OEM Cruise Control added to Ford Focus SE with Sync: use option #23 Cruise Control set to "with Cruise Control"

When reading or writing config changes to the different modules you will create a slurry of DTC's on the car. This is completely normal. Download and install Forscan on your pc to read and clear out all the communications DTC's.

Things you will need: Laptop with USB port and a corded USB ELM327 code reader, or bluetooth capability if you are using an OBDlink MX or similiar adapter. A BestBuy Rocketfish micro Bluetooth adapter is what I have(id recommend the fastest bluetooth module you can get your hands on for under $40.
OBDlink MX: Shop this around, sales prices all over the place, or from here:Amazon.com: ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth/OBD-II Scan Tool Interface: Automotive

First you will need a OBD2 code reader that must be capable of reading the Highspeed (HS) canbus that Ford uses. If it can read the Medium Speed (MS-CAN) bus thats a plus for other purposes such as using the software known as Forscan . For the purposes of this write up I am using the OBDLink MX(what I had already). A corded USB ELM327 may work as well but depends on the quality of the knockoff sold at most locations.

Special note: If you are using Bluetooth you will need to know which com port your computer has assigned to the Bluetooth module.
Next you will need Forscan, download from here:Download FORScan.($Free) Forscan is a PC only test tool that can log several hundred different parameters at a time, read and clear all DTC's (you will get tons of dtc's during this process but no worries no long term effects are caused when done)and run individual selftests on each CAN module.

To do the window mod and shift light change you need the Focccus App, the as-built editor both of which can be found here: Ford Tools by xGloooM from ffclub.ru
You will need a windows PC with bluetooth wireless adapter. Lastly you will need the bluetooth code reader or ELM327.
The video how to above can walk you through what to do once you have these programs.

Here is the fun part. Go here: Ford Tools by xGloooM from ffclub.ru and open the AS Built editor.

type your vin number in and click download from ETIS. You should see something like this:
Image

navigate to block 184
Image
click the drop down box and change to either option 02 or 03(both work) but neither will open and close the sunroof.
Image

Now scroll back to the top and click Make XML
Image

now your pc will ask where to save the new file. Choose at your discretion as it does not matter. Go to your car and ensure your MX is plugged into the port(or Elm327). Car should be in accesory position (KOEO) key on engine off.

Now we load up the Focccus app. if you are using an OBDlink MX set your options to this
Image
note...the com port is totally dependent on your pc setup.
Click open. Focccus will now load up to this screen
Image

Now click load from file and browse to where you saved your new xml file you created. Click open. Focccus should now look like this:
Image

To confirm the settings scroll down to block 184 and verify your new global open settings. If everything is correct you are ready to write.
If everything is good click here
Image
you should see a message about starting the write procedure. Do not turn car off or press any buttons. You will see the green bar start on the left side and transition to the right in about 7-8 seconds till it shows 100%. the lights will shut off and come right back on and then you should see a message about write successful. At this point I waited for about 30seconds at which point I turned the car off and then back on to verify startup which worked as it should. Then I rolled all the windows down and turned the car off. To verify this worked get out and push and hold the lock button for maybe 5 seconds. You will now see the windows roll up perfectly. Same procedure to roll them down only now you use unlock on the Fob. Hope this helps you!

I can't find anyting in the FORScan for the global windows or anything. I'm considering trying the FOCCCUS app, but I see bluetooth OBD readers being used. I had originally bought a OBDLinkEX and was wondering if that would work with the FOCCCUS or do i need to buy another OBD reader.

I've done about 20 cars in the area, half with Bluetooth and half with wired.

I can't get the As Built data for edit to work. I put my VIN in and nothing happens. Any advice?

#2,041 ·
Technically you don't need the As Built Data, you can just pull from your own car and edit there. It's just convenient to have it done ahead of time but you don't need to.

#2,047 ·
You can read the data from the car and save it, then just modify what is in the car now. Just save the file just in case you change something it doesn't like.

Hey all! So I'm using FoCCCus more to program the can and just Forscan to read DTC. Yet I keep getting a load of DTC then I'll do something and things lessen to 1 or 2 (tps and issue with steering wheel controls). Does ANYONE know how to program the right steering wheel buttons? I just did a retrofit for '15 wheel on '13 body. The controls work, cruise, left controls and right controls RESPOND but they are wonky. the center speak button just changes source like it used too. As well the volume does work --but cycles thru sources each press and the seek buttons going left and right do the same thing. Anyone know how I can get these working properly? I'm lost. Thanks for the support all!

I can't believe that I was so concerned about trying these programs---it was super easy! Double Honk Delete, Courtesy Smear Delete, and Global Windows done on my '14 the past couple of days. the thing that was holding me back more than anything was spending the money to buy a laptop. Well that, and the fact that I am useless when it comes to computers, so if I can do this, anybody can. Going for global Windows in the GF's Escape tonight. I definitely recommend going with the OBDLinkEX over the ELM327 with the switch.

#2,056 ·
Not sure about shortening the time it takes the windows to open/close, not an option to my knowledge. As far as your error message, I have gotten that before too. I basically shut everything down, the car, FoCCCus, and unplugged the OBD connector. Start again and you should be able to get it to work. I've had to do it a few times in a row, but eventually for whatever reason it ends up working fine.

I finally got the Secondary Boot Loader thing figured out. I used FORScan to enable Global Windows and Bambi Mode in the Escape, and FoCCCus to enable my new backup camera setup in the ST. I'm going to see if I can get my cruise control issue (RS steering wheel swap) straightened out as well. From what I'm finding, anything pre-facelift, you should use FoCCCus, anything post-facelift, use FORScan. They're fairly similar in usability now; FoCCCus has the drop-down type boxes now, so it's super-easy to use. It's good to have them both; you'll need FORScan to clear any DTCs anyway. Anybody that's on the fence about using either of these, just do it; I'm completely useless when it comes to computers, and I can do it.

I'll add to the advice here - if you're doing anything with FoCCCus, I highly recommend using a high quality cable. I've had poor luck using FoCCCus with ELM327 cables and the OBDLink products. The program was designed with an ELS27 cable in mind and I had good luck with an inexpensive ELS27 clone.

Agreed. I had one of the recommended ELM327 cables, and functionality was hit or miss; quality just seemed suspect to me. I swapped to the OBDLink EX that FORScan recommends and it has been great; high quality and built like a tank. For what I spent on the two crap ELMs that I bought, I should have just bought the OBDLink EX

Hello, I was checking out your post and I wondered if I could use this on my 2014 Escape. I used forscan to enable nav. but when I put my vin into this XML editor it shows no nav. which is correct because it as built. All I want to do is enable global windows up/down but I don't know whether to change the nav setting or leave it. I enabled and tried it today and it worked great so I don't want to mess it up. I couldn't figure out how to do it in forscan because I cant get a spreadsheet with the corresponding number blocks. So i don't know what's what..... Thanks

Looking for some input from Escape owners out there. I have '16 Escape 2.0 AWD Titanium. Here in Canada, DRL is always LED and FOGLIGHT. Want to disable FOGLITE and only have LED DRL just like Escape in USA. Also would like FOGLIGHT w/ HIGHBEAM (HID)

Was playing around and noticed Focccus lines #14, #16 and #18 are related. Just need some examples of Titanium Escape owners with HID on what they have for LED DRL, FOGLIGHT OFF, FOGLIGHT w/ HIGHBEAM.

I was able to get global windows on Escape and changed DRL on '12 Focus SE Hatch. Thanks.
