While I dont care if you drive an auto or manual. I just dont see the point in wasting the amount of money it is going to cost and time to get this car to an auto. Why not just buy a car that already has the option? Also even if you get an auto tran in the car you dont know how well it will go. I personally would not touch it, but it isnt my car so I could give a ****.
He could have gotten a nicely loaded Fusion 2.0EB for around 28k(neg down to a better price) But then if the OP has access to salvage and free parts and labor it wouldn't be a waste. This thread has started just like @pmaltinsky thread did. People said rebuilding a wrecked ST was a waste of time and money and in the end he walked away with a loaded ST for around 10K(IIRC) after recouping funds from part outs. I say where's-the-faith ;)

That is true. I personally do not see an issue with a man and keeping both hands on the steering wheel, but that is just me. On the stock ST torque steer is not noticeable to me, but I did own an MS3, so everything else is nothing haha

The only thing that would concern me for a swap is the ECU and the clutch pack of the auto.

yeah I dont have much experience with Ford auto transmissions, but from the vehicles I have rode in with them, they have not been great. Hell the Focus is just now not having issues with the new dual clutch auto. My sisters had to get a full replacement due to it basically eating itself.

While a salvage St is a lot of work. I bet this would be more work, and way more than I would be willing to put in just because of torque steer. haah

I am wondering if the Cobb AP or SCT X4 will communicate with the Auto controller. If it can then he can manage the first and second gear tq. Also, no loss of boost!

6 pages in and I haven't seen anyone reply to your "MFT, stereo, cell phone" comment about using a manual. GET YOUR HANDS OFF YOUR PHONE, PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND DRIVE!

I would but I am stuck at this green light waiting for my instagram to show the picture of this red light i'm stuck at!

Gross. Au.... auto... automa.... geeze, I can't even say it I'm so grossed out by the thought.

Yes a computer can shift faster. Yes it's more convenient. But to me this car is all about driver connection. I know it's not the fastest thing out there, but damn do I have fun. You just lose that connection with an auto IMO.

Save the manuals!

My buddy with a '14 SE auto has gone through 2 sets of dual clutch plates (one brand new, one "used"). He has less than 10k miles

I drove a '13 SE rental in Seattle last November. That thing was slipping and grinding like mad going into second and third. It almost worked better if I floored it rather than easy to moderate gas.

In all honesty, and I am very serious about this. It will be less expensive to get a gym membership for a year so that you can lift weights to build muscle in your fight against torque steer than spending probably close to 8 grand for an auto transmission and spending a year or more figuring out how to get it to work with the ST since this kind of a mod will be about as common as seeing a Bugatti doing the speed limit.

I always wondered why the ST wasn't offered in an auto. It would help sales, fuel economy, and acceleration.
You know, I don't agree. The ST is a limited edition car, one for the enthusiasts. When I see one around town, I KNOW that person knows how to row their own. And they get a wave or thumbs up.

So the WRX, GTI, Golf R aren't enthusiasts cars? Don't get me wrong, I love manual transmissions with 4 cylinder engines, but it is old technology that is no longer the faster trans.

If Ford could offer a good DCT like the VW DSG with paddle shifters, I would buy that over the 6 speed manual. The VW DSG is so much fun and super fast at shifting. I honestly didn't miss the third pedal when I was using the paddle shifters.
