You don't need to rev match when upshifting if you're doing it within a second or two. Do you mean downshifting from 6th to 5th? Going from 5th to 6th shouldn't call for you to slip the clutch at all

 

my bad i meant downshift from 6th to 5th gear ive done it before with out any slip or clutch smell ive be driving manual for more then 13 years never felt that before

 

A Slipping clutch is never a good thing, I would get it to a dealership as soon as possible. There is a thread somewhere around here with people have their clutch go out early.

 

havent had a clutch issue yet but ive noticed the trans is getting a little crunchy an d is alot less smooth then when i bought it

 

My clutch went, started slipping in 5th and 6th gear, a couple of months later all the gears slipped. Dealer found fluid on the clutch

 

What exactly are the symptoms of a slipping clutch? Since getting my vehicle (8000kms) my clutch seems more forgiving and smoother than it used to be. Plus the friction point almost seems to wander, but that could just be all in my head.

 

If you don't feel it, the obvious indicator will be that the Tach will spike up when you give it some gas - with no appreciable change in speed.
Folks that have driven a clutch for years will feel it as soon as it happens, without needing to see the Tach response.

 

Does everyone elses clutch pedal have a little play in it? Mine i can depress a little before it gets stiff and engages.

 

yes even after properly bleeding it it still has free movement. The pedal still has a delay coming back up.

Hmm. its happening sometimes, even before the install.

 

12500 miles and a laundry list of mods and mine is fine. But my friend who is bone stock is having this issue at 4000 miles. I wonder if it is all on a clutch by clutch basis.

 

The clutch in this car is incredibly forgiving and has about 2 inches coming up of dead space and an inch or so from a depress of dead space. The 4 or 5 inches between those ranges are the engagement point. Most new vehicles are like this as it would be hell on your left calf to keep the clutch fully depressed at a stoplight. Nearing 1k mi and it continues to only get better, I guess time will tell though.

If the engagement point is moving around on you, something is wrong.
