Just reading through this thread and getting all stoked about this awd setup. Are you planning on a complete custom setup? Or whats the closest platform? the RS has all that electronic diffs to deal with.

I would 100% avoid any RS Pieces besides the subframe itself. Although i may just do RWD instead wwith the S550 transmission and rear end. Still am not sure what route i want to go.

Are you not doing the RS parts simply because of the electronic diffs? Or because that it hasn’t been totally proved? I wonder how that would be with a RWD set up. I have to say an ST doing burnouts mught be the best thing ever.

Yeah the elkectronic diffs and because from what ive read, in a track setting the PTU is known to over heat fast. This is not from experience and can be totally wrong. But just off reading forums, this was the conclusion. Plus trying to integrate the electronic diffs would be too hard. So running a purely mechanical system would make the most sense.

And yeah an st doing a burnout would be pretty cool, plus on the weekend for street shenanigans, get some beadlocks on the rear and look at peoples faces seeing a focus st with rear beadlocks and a 3" hood dump lol.

o ya messing with that electrical seems like a mess. Ok had not heard of that problem until now but I totally believe that. Besides the fact the RS hadn’t had the refinement of even a focus since it was only around 3 years i guess not to the folks across the pond so maybe thats a dlawed theory. That would be awesome to see with that dump and beadlocks for sure. Does the s550 come with the Tremec stock? I was reading about the s650 having that as an option i think.

Hello All!

Once again there were quite a few delays. I had to get the fab work restarted with some one else because the last guy had some issues and couldnt do the work. I lost out on quite a bit of money as he basically stole it lol.

SO, here is the new design for the manifold and full exhaust. These are pretty much done. Next is the charge pipe, add the wastegate, and the headlight intake. Once these are complete we move onto the cage.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick progress update and some pictures!

Is that just a tint on the headlights? Dumb question ik but here’s another. What’s the benefit of this?
Yes it’s a specific film got head/fog lights. The purpose of it is when racing at night, yellow light cuts through fog and rain better than white with less deflection. For visibility it makes a huge difference in those conditions. In the case of my car, it’s for looks seeing how I live in AZ with no fog and little rain and I’m not a professional endurance racer lol

I was told when researching cooling options and OC placement for the ST the discussion came up about the RS my mechanic co drives and the PTU toss d the car into limp mode on long runs.

The RS I had encounter on the track, after few laps the PTU overheat and the computer cut off the RDU leaving it on front wheel drive only mode.

AWD tip. Mazda Speed 6 things plus it will be permanent AWD no electric things to mess with. I’m still doing lots of research into this but it seems it should fit. Would need a few custom mounts. It’s hard to test it when all I wanna do is drive my car lol

Okayyyy, long time no see. I picked up a 2019 f150 2.7 ecoboost as a new daily with a 4/6 drop on 24” Giovanna’s so some funds were rerouted for a little bit too. The sidewinder is completed and ready to go. The entire setup is stainless and a 3” stainless exhaust all the way back. Everything is vbanded for easy removal. We made 2 separate rear end pipes. One is a 3” straight pipe and the other has a 9” race muffler and angled tip for the asphalt to help lower the decibel reading for sound limits on the track.

This setup should flow amazingly and have no issues. The lsd, clutch, and synchros are on the way to build the tranny right now. Once that is done, I’ll order the willwood bbk. Then back to the cage as there have been delays with that part. Finish the wiring, get new tires, and small misc things to work out before we get it ready for testing. Here are some pics of the new sidewinder for everyone’s enjoyment🙏🏻
