this thread is awesome. just entered some new PIDS and cant wait to try them on my next drive. i hope i got them in correctly but you guys made it easy for me. is there any danger to entering a PID incorrectly?
No, you just get garbage data. I should really update this. I have pretty much every Ford specific PID done now, just gotta get it into a nice format for Torque.

in torque pro can you see how long it's been since last CEL was cleared? (for when you go look at used cars) I don't see the option anywhere.

also the battery voltage how accurate is that? in multimeter when I start up the car it dropped to like 10.3 but in torque pro it went down to like 9.5 which kinda scared me.

I get random "misinformation" with s bunch of the PIDS. Anyone else get these. HP will read 800, Cat temp 20000, charge temp 200 etc etc.
I haven't tried my other obd to see if that's it.
with the pids built into the app pr the ones youve entered from here?

Ones I entered from here. I double checked each and found no errors. I'm using s kiwi 3.
Other oddity is that torque launches - connects and then closes 9 out of 10 times. I've gotten into the habit of launching the app and waiting a minute then relaunching.

Strange, sounds like a phone issue. What phone are you using?

The Kiwi 3 reminds me of the OBDlink MX that I use. Same price point as well.

I've used Torque over a few phones and it works for me right off the bat without crashing.

I have torque pro and an adaptor. My question is, in my '16 the adaptor interferes with the closing of the shut-out panel. Is there one that doesn't? Or should I just take a dremel to mine?

I have an old HTC One that I'm planning on using specifically for TP (I don't like having to switch my Bluetooth back and forth with my personal phone)

Search around the forums there are several threads on this (also about the accessport) and you can "unclip" the white OBDII connector from the dash and then push everything up/in and close the door with the adapter attached. I have done this with both my OBDLink MX and now my Accessport.

Awesome thanks! I'll give this a try for sure!

Sometimes you don't know what to search for little things like this...

For example, after wasting a good few hours poring through various threads looking for an honest and objective review/description of the cp-e catback I turned up with nothing. I'm still deciding whether or not to post a request for fear of getting "flamed".

no need to search.. just push the tabs on each side of the port and push it through.. you can bring it around the top side of the opening, plug your adapter into it and push it all back up behind the dash.

Has anyone found any alternator output PIDs? I have battery current and battery charge %, but i would like to see alternator output. If it is not monitored, is the command to the alternator available?
Thanks

are you looking for the output voltage? amperage? I doubt there is anything that reads current amperage output, however I could see the car monitoring current load.

Amperage. I've got battery current working in Torque, but i would like to see stats from the alternator. I know these use the smart charging, or what ever it is called, that varies the voltage on the field winding to control the output. It would be nice to see either the current output from the alternator, total system load, or even the pwm duty cycle for the alternator input.

I was very supprized to see that it monitors the battery current. Any ideas what it would do with it?

current is measured in amperage... and if youre getting a measurement for battery current in amps then thats more than likely tied directly to the current load being required. I would assume that this number is directly reflecting the actually current output of the alternator. Now if you have battery voltage and maybe mistyped that then yeah, def not the same thing

Thanks for your input. So i played around with it a little more and i'm convinced that it is only the current to the battery. Here is what i did:
1. turned key on but did not start. -8 amps.
2. turned everything i could on. -50 amps.
3. turned everything off and started engine. +57 amps
4. Once the battery was recharged engine, running still. +2 amps
5. turned everything back on. +2 amps.

It could be used as total system load, so long as you don't start the engine, but that wouldn't be any fun. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

keep in mind the battery is directly connected to the alternator.... they are not interrupting this main power wire in order to get you a reading only for the battery. It is an overall current reading which does reflect the alternator output when it is running

I want to convey my thanks to all the participants of this thread who provided how-to information and/or PID file(s). I have a very old Samsung something-or-other tablet that used to be a toy for my sons. Now that they've upgraded, I decided to use it to satisfy a nerdy urge for increased instrumentation.

I successfully used the PID file supplied in this thread with Torque Pro. I have ordered a CD slot mount for the tablet and will continue to configure screens to my liking. For $5, this application is going to provide many months of fun.
