Yes I know, there is already another thread about this. But the stickied thread, from what I could tell was ALL WRXs, not just the new one. Also, this is a legitimate question which I need help with, I'm not just curious. Short backstory: I drive a Mustang, but I now have decided to get into something smaller, with more room and that's practical but still fun. I meticulously researched and looked at many cars; civic si, MS3, GTI, etc. but I finally landed on the Focus ST and I fell in love. I was stuck on the Focus, until recently when some money has been freed up, and a new WRX has entered the picture. I wasn't interested in an older generation WRX because of the turbo lag and poor fuel economy of the 2.5, along with the cheap interior, uncomfortable ride, and lack of practicality compared to the cars of the hot hatch segment. But this new WRX seems more refined, practical and mature than the last, which makes it much more appealing to me.

But now I have the biggest problem a car buyer faces, deciding between two equally amazing cars. The Focus is cheaper, more economical, and has a bit more cargo space with the hatchback. And, because I can get a second-hand Focus, I'd definitely shoot for a loaded ST3 which means more goodies over the WRX. But the WRX is well, a WRX. It speaks for itself. Not only that, but it's faster, slightly better looking in my opinion(sorry guys) and more versatile, refined, and better-handling due to the AWD system. And it's a Subaru so I probably wouldn't have to worry about reliability for roughly 2,000 years.

I really can't work this out in my head. I've driven two Focus ST's and loved driving them, but haven't driven the WRX yet. They're both incredible cars that are easily livable every day, look good, and are bonkers to drive. Now I just have to choose one. :( Any thoughts or advise y'all can give me? I really am stumped.

Unless you go with a STI, it's just not worth it. I have several friends/coworkers that have subies and they all say that they wish they got something else. Reliability is a major issue for most of them. Also, they all mention that the interior is from a kids store and not that of a 40k car. Also, they all are envious of my ST ?

I had a run in with a 15 STI on a roll and did not manhandle it. They are quick cars

We did a 40 to around 115, I started in second and by the time I shifted into 3rd he was completely behind me. I pulled up to the light and I asked if he stepped on it or if I got the jump. We ran it again he beeped and when I shifted into third he didn't even bother he just let off. Did you beat it?

He jumped and was ahead the entire time. It was close, but I am modded pretty well. I am sure it would have gone differently if we did a few runs, but I wouldn't use the word manhandled. It honestly is a pretty sick car lol

It's just a fanboy car, I don't find it that amazing with the encounters I've had with Subi's as well as Evo's from the times I've raced them they haven't surprised me I can't seem to find what's so special about them besides they have a huge park bench on the back and it's featured in every Fast and Furious movie. It's already in 5.0 and Camaro SS price range and it gets mopped.

Worse than that was the time, before I got a tune, I got S**T allover by an Evo X lmao.

Ive worked in the auto business (Performance parts) and installs for a long time. I loved all 3 of my Subies, the D bags that make them fan boy cars are the ones that give them bad names really. They really are good cars though. I just don't like what they did to them, they were way better back in the 04-05 days. Those weren't too quick, but fun as hell!

If i'm just buying any car for around 30k, it would be a used C6.

You really can't go wrong with an LS motor... The platform has been around for ages and it has no ceiling for making power. I strongly agree with this statement.

I have 2 close friends, one with a 14 wrx with similar mods to my own, and another with a 2015 wrx. Had the opportunity to run them both a few times this evening while cruising through Mexico. Stock 2015 didn't stand a chance. Suprisingly from a 60 roll, multiple times me and the 14 wrx were neck and neck, with me just barely pulling ahead at the end. He did get a video of one of our runs. Having driven my buddies new wrx and getting to know it a little, I did find myself in a Subaru dealership getting more info. It's a really nice car, and quality wise feels way beyond the 2014 model.
