That is not that big of a deal. $120 max damage. Wheel repair these days is cheap.

I guess im just used to it. I have never bent a wheel here. I guess people from areas with good roads dont realize they need to watch the road. I have driven with cheaper wheels with less sidewall then we have and never had an issue.

In the scenario where I have to drive from NM to MI in January during an arctic blast with either a) bald tires or b) summer tires, the clear choice is c) fly or d) rent a car.

first off I did the math for a 1 month vacation.

driving my own car 500$ round trip in gas.

flying 1000$-1100$ for 2 people + (rental car 18$/day x 30days = 540$) = 1600$ roughly.

I saved 1100$ by driving and I can almost buy another set of 4 rims for that cost. come on man use some math.

 

michigan = worst roads in the country. period

 

Oklahoma is right up there on the list as well lol! The roads are like a warzone that has taken mortar shells all over!!!!

 

Pittsburgh has to take the cake for the ****tiest roads. I should have got a spare

 

Plus the deductible if you hit something on a slick road. Waiting for repairs to be made and having a car that has now been wrecked. I would have rented a car and drove. Base focus gets much better mileage so for a few 100 could have kept your car in the garage. Not worth the risk. Maybe nothing will happen. Then again murphys law, and remeber Murphy is a ****.

 

You forgot about option B. Rent said $18/day car and drive. Apparently, safety (and comfort) takes a backseat in your math. Heck, do you even get a backseat for $18/day?

BTW, I can fly roundtrip to Detroit from Jersey for under $200.

 

Christmas fairs are quite high from ABQ. well not a huge deal. more annoying than anything, just another reason I will never move back to MI.
