Door touch sensor malfunction

I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but the search on this site is...interesting. :)
Anyway, my 2013 ST2 has just started doing something odd.
Up until recently, I've always been able to lock the car using the touch pads on either the driver or passenger side front door, and I could unlock by touching the inside of any door handle.
Now, I can only lock the car using the key fob, but I can still unlock by touching any door handle.
I also notice that when I lock using the fob, I get a double horn honk on the second lock press. Maybe this is normal, but I don't recall it doing that before. Of course, I almost never used the fob, so maybe I just didn't notice.
I saw a thread on the Ford Escape forum that seemed to indicate that this is a known issue, but the fixes there were a bit jumbled and conflicting, so I thought I'd ask here, for Focus-specific advice.
I also saw that there was a TSM (or SSM?) related to a similar issue, but it specifically stated that if you were able to unlock the doors using the touch method, then the bulletin didn't apply.
Anyone dealt with this, and know where I should start looking for a solution?
Thanks in advance for any advice

Yes, any of the 4 door handles. Mine has always worked that way since new. It's one of my favorite features. I use it often when it's raining. I can brush the inside of the rear door as I pass by, so the driver's door is unlocked and ready to open when I get there. It's only about a half second difference, but when the rain is pouring down, it's significant. :)

When I wash mine it is consantly locking and unlocking as I soap up, wipe and dry...all four door handles.
Man, that's just cold.
Here I am asking for help with broken touch pads, and you're bragging about how yours works too well. 😜🤣

The double honk with the key fob is normal on 2nd press.
Thanks for the confirmation. Hopefully someone has dealt with the door sensor issue.
It seems to be fairly widespread, from what I was reading on the Escape forums.
The recall/TSB/whatever mentions the Escape, Fusion, and Focus for sure, maybe others I've forgotten.

Well that's odd. Must be a PFL vs FL thing. Mine unlocks/locks with only front doors.
The Honk on the double lock is normal. What is not normal is a double honk. Mine double honks when any of the compartments are left open. (Hood, doors, hatch)
Confirm everything is closed and latched properly. Next thing i would check is your hood latch.
Hmm... good point. I have been having an issue with my rear hatch not opening properly. I need to check it out, thanks!
What's PFL/FL?

Ah, I see. Well, sometimes older IS better! lol
Honestly, I have so few complaints about this car, it's jarring when something goes wrong.
I have 154K miles on it, and I've done nothing but regular maintenance. I haven't even changed the spark plugs.
I do need to track down this stupid CEL on my dash, but it's related to that fuel tank recall, and my local dealer screwed up the "repair" the last time, (they didn't really do anything), so now I'm not longer in the system as eligible for the recall, but it's not fixed either. I blame the dealer for that, not the car. :/

You should definitely switch out your plugs; these cars are very hard on spark plugs and at 150,000+ miles I can guaranty they are done. Sorry no suggestions on the door issue yet.
Hmmm, I never heard that. It's running perfectly, and still getting good mileage.
Certainly couldn't hurt, though! What plugs are suggested, just the OEM or something else?

It's fixed! You guys are geniuses! :)
I checked all the doors and such, and I guess one of them wasn't properly latched, because now my door pads are back working correctly again.
My money is on the rear hatch, since it's been acting up a bit lately.
In any case, thanks so much for your help. I have a few things to add to my 'to-do' list as well. ;)
