Some cars are just possessed I think. Reminds me of a 528 (N20 4cyl turbo DI) we had in the shop when I worked at BMW. Multiple random misfires. Been in and out of the shop countless times. BMW NA was involved on the second visit. Car got ignition coils, injectors, programming, a DME (PCM), and I think something else. The worst was every time a repair was made we would drive it over 50 miles with no issues. Customer picks it up and within a few weeks to a month he would be back. BMW trade assisted him out of the car. Worst part is BMW didn't take the car, it was wholesaled...so someone got that car somewhere...

Asking questions is the worst because they legitimately have no answers.

You ask "why are you replacing my cylinder head" and they say "ford says it fixed someone elses car so we have to try it". That's ridiculous.

It's been 412 days since I first had this problem and Ford still has no answer. They can't identify the cause of the cold start misfires and they can't point out anything that will prevent it from happening.

I'd still bet that this is an issue that could be resolved with a PCM update but there is no sign that Ford is going to provide that. If you think they give a **** about this issue with our cars, I can assure you- they do not.
may not see a "fix" or PCM update till the new models roll out if they even make any modifications at all.

Just getting mine back after work for a misfire but still has CEL on. Was told to go back after a week to check if there is a solution.
With my 4th misfire code I'll pick mine up today and they told me the same thing. To just call them in a few weeks to see if there's a fix. They're guessing it'll be a software update so they didn't throw any parts at it, which they did the first 3 times.

so this has been going on awhile?

What's up guys. New to the forums but been trying to catch up on this thread. My St got first CEL at 9916. Code p0303/0316. First time car was in the shop for about a month. They replaced short block and long block along with a bunch of other stuff. Just got the code again at 12710 and this time around they just cleared codes and said codes "shouldn't come back". Seems like they really don't know what's going on since after reading some of this thread, everyone is getting the runaround. They said engineering is currently investigating. Same thing they told me last time . Seems like everything I read says I'm SOL.

Pretty much. I believe it is still unconfirmed whether or not this is actually doing damage or its just an annoyance.

Based on my experience it seems more of an annoyance. Tech could not find evidence of any damage inside or outside the block due to these misfire codes or any others things

Hope so. Just kind of bummed cuz I'm holding off in mods till I have a legit answer.

Jesus christ.

Is yours a 2015 or 2016?

Either way... that's insane.

I know the feels buddy. I even removed the short shift plate i have just in case. Forgot how long of a throw the shifter had
I know right?? I removed mine too just making sure it was as stock as possible. They even replaced my Cobb filter the 2nd time I went in for the CEL. They gave it back but I got a new oem filter. *shrug* they were reaching.

Now on my 4th, they're giving me the car back today saying the car is driveable. Unless the CEL blinks, I'm to just call in periodically to see if there's a fix yet. They're guessing just a software update.

My first CEL resulted in ECM replacement at about 3700 miles (mind you it was bought march 9th, 2016) and i think i went in for it about may? and its sept now and there is a misfire with no damage. Id say its a firmware thing as well.

Dude I'm just considering tuning it and voiding the warranty . First car I keep bonestock and it does this? I think it's a sign from car gods lol

Has anyone checked their MAF sensor? On my access port it shows a steady reading but if you unplug it while the car is idling the car doesn't change a single bit. Plug it back it still nothing. Possibility that all this is caused by that?

The one by the air box? If so that is the air intake temperature sensor. It also serves another pupose that I don't recall. It's not your typical MAF sensor you might be familiar with. Lots of people get confused because the tube says MAF.

That would make sense why I didn't see an idle drop. Ik theirs the one by the air box, one on the intercooler, and one under the manifold
