Hello to all, newbie here (just joined forum).
About a month ago I did my third oil change on my Ingot silver ST3 (10,000 miles). Afterwards I did Oil change service reset holding both brake and gas pedal down untill prompted from a small cluster screen with engine off. The car felt sharp, throttle response was spot-on, linear and car did'nt have any slack in the drivetrain when changing gears at lower rpm's. At first I thought it was new oil doing its magic but then I remembered that every time I changed the oil before, I did the reset procedure. So after about 1000 miles and about 100 cold start-up cycles I can confirm that doing this simple procedure does reset something; either short or long term fuel maps, or a throttle position sensor. I came from 2010 MK6 gti with APR stg2 where I had option to reset throttle body position sensor before every start up and I could feel that car needed it every 5-6 driving cycles to stay running top notch. My nissan 350Z also had procedure where you had to depress gas pedal 7-9 times in sequence with yellow blinking lightin the dash before start-up and car runned super-good every single time. Wodering if this is indeed our TPS reset solution? Any thoughts?
procedure:Basically you press start engine button acc. mode without starting engine
press and hold both gas and brake pedal, untill prompted that Oil Service reset is complete
Release brake and gas pedal, start the car...drive!!

Penzoil-Platinum since 800 miles.
No change in MPG or at least I have'nt stayed long enough in any of Torrie's maps as I'm experimenting to see which one of them responds best to Forge FMIC and silicone hoses.
So far 93 Beta is the strongest with FMIC, huge difference, raw and instant power no matter what gear I'm in. I can feel power bump in all of the maps, stock as well but seems like newer maps like 93 V5 are too sorted out and they take little of that instant power and rawness out.
Also very important; when you do Oil change reset procedure cycle to off with ignition button and restart as if you just entered the vehicle.
Wondering if the same would be achieved if we just cycled fully thru start the engine procedure meaning ignition ON, let all the lights settle on the dashboard and let engine icon light up eight times and then start the car. Personally I never do that, I sit in the car, push the clutch and brake in and just start the engine...

I don't even push the brake, I get in the car, push the clutch in, and mash the starter button, once it's running, I verify it's out of gear before pulling my foot off the clutch pedal.

Ok. .I was waiting for someone to experience something similar. I have noticed only on two occasions that my car felt kind of sluggish under acceleration. At the same time I noticed my fuel economy not changing in the display. It always read 25.0 mpg no matter how I drive. This was while the car was stock. When I flashed the car to the cobb stage 1 it went away and the car drove and felt normal with standard changes in mpg readings. Then right before I upgraded to a stage 3 build the car did the exact same thing. Same symptoms and all. No codes just a sluggish feel under acceleration with little to no change in mpg. Since upgrading to the stage 3 it has not happened again. Strange. ..

Hey amarweb the same with my car, before I started doing this reset procedure my mpg would also "lock" at 23.5 mpg every once in a while ( approx. every 6-8 driving cycles) and would'nt change no matter how I drove the car...simple reset of instant mpg display would make it calculate ok again or "unlock" but sluggishnes was still there. It happend in stock as well as well as in all of Torrie's maps. I think it's the simple glitch in the programming of that module, not related to sluggishness. On the happy note since I started the "reset" procedure on every start up it did'nt happen in over a month and 1000 miles, city and highway driving combined.

I wonder if the procedure is different for ST1s or if they don't have the "I'll let you know when it's time to change your oil" option. I tried what you said, but nothing popped up on my screen, only thing was the CEL flashed for a second.. Is that it?

Should be the same no matter what trim you have...so , sit in the car, push start button and immediately press and hold brake and gas pedal all the way down. On the little screen it will state Oil change reset in progress. The system will illuminate and check all icons in the dash cluster and engine icon will blink eight times. then it will say reset procedure completed. Let go of both pedals and Turn ignition OFF. Press clutch and start engine button which will start the engine. On my car engine start up will already feel smoother...if engine is cold let it run until rpm's go down and settle at idle speed then drive....

OK, I'm somewhat apprehensive to even attempt this. How does this work? Doesn't the engine rev up rather quickly doing this? I just imagined myself trying this seeing my engine explode lol. I was under the impression that the engine wouldn't be started when I read first post. Is this for real?

my car runs much better if I get in the passenger door and climb over the center console, anybody else notice this?

is it definitely related to the oil life moniter? does the ecu limit performance as you get closer to end of oil life???
I've heard if you climb through the hatch 3 times and open and close all or the door 3 times starting with the drivers door that it puts your st in 1200whp mode

I don't know about resetting the oil life monitor in my car if it makes it run better or not.

But I used to have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP that I swear rode and handled a lot better right after I would vacuum the carpets and floor mats.
