Anyone had to replace the lower ball joint on the front lower a arms? What's involved?
I tore the boot open on one during a suspension install.

I know all about Texas winters. Been here for 32 years! You still get winter lol. Ot may not be cold, but you still have the season.
That sucks!Lucky! My last Focus had rot holes through the floor.
Swapping the LCA isn't a big deal, unless your budget is that tight. I don't know of another solution, unless you drill out the rivets and pry out the OEM balljoint and find a replacement unit with bolts. So, does anyone know of a replacement, bolt in ball joint yet? I nicked the boot on drivers side while installing my Bilstein B8's. I have noticed some play in the balljoint. I've been putting it off, waiting for someone to bring a bolt in replacement to market. I can wait no longer. I'll have to switch out the entire LCA if I can't find a ball joint that fits asap. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Thank you for the link. Have you ordered from this company before? There are no prices listed and I can't submit an order, only provide my contact info. Can anyone confirm fitment of the ball joint with the US focus OEM control arm? This site has very little info. It states fitment as "euro spec mk3 including ST". So I believe it SHOULD work. I guess I'll call and get some more info during business hours.
Thanks again. That's good to know.I have Hardrace parts on my car.
You dont order from them, you order from their resellers.
A quick google search has this part at around $65-$80 for the pair. Often these are dropped shipped to you and not really in stock...
Yes MK3 is fine to use for fitment on a US based car. You may also see MK3.5 at times to reference what we have here in the US to be 2014.5 models and higher
I know this thread is old, but I just installed some Mevotech TTX (Trail Tough Extreme) which they are considering "Overbuilt" on my 2014 ST as they were $98 for the pair from Rockauto. Getting the rivets out was not fun at all though. Even after what seemed like forever to get the head to snap off with a Air chisel I still had to either pound out or drill out the remaining pin to get them to release.
The part numbers are MEVOTECH TXMS40530 and MEVOTECH TXMS40532 depending on which side.
Anyone have experience with the Hardrace 7652 rollcenter spacers? i used a similar device on my 240z back in the day for bump steer but they were almost an inch thick. Does that ~1/2 or so lift make that much of a difference? If so couldn't I just cut off the joint from the old balljoints and use that in the arm and then put the new ball joints on top? ... Almost did that yesterday, but realized the bolts I had were not long enough to reach the nuts with the extra piece, so may re-do the install once I find strong enough bolts and the results are worth the effort.
Do you know the part number for lower jointI put moog ball joints on my svt focus. You had to drill the rivets out, beat the old one out, and put the new one on with the supplied hardware. The ST's control arms look like they are set up the same way. However, I haven't been able to track down aftermarket ball joints for our cars.
Mevotech makes them, i installed one one my left (right side got a full control arm before i found these balljoints).Do you know the part number for lower joint
Thanks man your always a great help.. another question I have that needs your wisdom. When reinstalling the starter after a clutch install and flywheel is there a certain way that it needs to go in mine doesn't seem to wanta sit flush and all the lines in the way aren't helping hears a pictureMevotech makes them, i installed one one my left (right side got a full control arm before i found these balljoints).
Part number txms40532 for the right side and txms40530 for the left.
Yes, like the one pictured here vs stock (installed). They come with zerk fittings. The stock rivets were drilled out in this case. With that investment (and adding poly bushings) you have a pair of LCAs that will be serviceable without the need to purchase completely new arms.Mevotech makes them, i installed one one my left (right side got a full control arm before i found these balljoints).

Well I looked at taskaparts and did a vin match for the driver side. Now that you said that I'ma little worried it won't work.@spanninger9684 thats normal, theres a piece of foam that normally goes in that gap, it just happens to be missing here.
Also, let me know if the moog arms fit. I ordered one and it came with a tapered seat threaded balljoint, not the cylindrical balljoint that the ST uses.
In my instance it is catalogged to fit the ST, but like i said theres a balljoint difference , at least on the one i got. It also is claimed to fit the volvo c30, so possibly STs made in Germany have the tapered balljoint and knuckle? Idk. Let me know when it comes in the mail.Have you
