I logged into my Ford account today and checked to see if there were any updates for My Ford Touch. The last time I updated it was in 2013 so I figured it was definitely due for an update... Well apparently I'm "Up to date" seriously Ford?
Why can't SYNC 2 be updated to the better SYNC 3? Is it a hardware issue?

Last time I updated Sync was a year ago to V3.8. Fixed a lot of bugs. quicker response.

I'm 2 maps behind on the Nav. card though. I have the A4. I think A6 or A7 is the latest.

Sync 3 is a whole new system. completely different OS, hardware, etc..

MFT is going to be left for dead, if it already hasn't. Sync 3 uses different companies software, so I doubt they will keep paying RIM/Blackberry/whoever for updates on MFT, which is regarded as a horrible attempt at an interface by most people. I don't really mind it on my truck and don't see a huge benefit to the Sync 3, although it is a bit more responsive.

Yeah I don't know why all the hate on MFT I have it on wife's 14 Escape and had it in my 15GT. Never have me any problems other than randomly would not auto play my music through Bluetooth from my phone. But that's asking a lot really, since it had to connect to my phone, then auto play Google music since I don't have music stored on my phone. So I give it leeway on that.

Yes Sync 3 is an improvement. It's definitely faster and layout is better. But that is to be expected. You're supposed to improve, not get worse or stagnant. Unlike Lexus, I work there as a Production Supervisor, and came from BMW. Lexus by fast IMO had the worst infotainment system I have ever used apart from early 2000's BMW. Lexus is still ****. Their joystick navigation of the system is horrendous. In a two model year range across different models they have a touch pad, joystick, and knob, paired with the same software and it all sucks.

I never said I disliked it, I just wish Ford would improve it with more updates, but it seems like they're just moving on with SYNC 3.

Sync, Sync2, and MFT are all run by Microsoft software. Sync3 is RIM/Blackberry.

My bad, I knew they were different, just had it backwards!
