Combat knock without an intercooler. That's all.

Second question, it's not necessarily better but different. Different philosophy to power delivery. Kind of like each tuner does it a little different.
Interesting so it's somewhat a band-aid

Well it just helps to combat the heat soak that comes with the stock FMIC.

I'd venture that they purposely tuned more torque as a way to sell the tune as the feeling of torque coming on down low is quite nice.

Mountune may have a slightly more conservative tune but it may also have smoother power delivery as well. It's just different feels/styles.

That said, if you're running a tune just get an FMIC at the same time, even if it means waiting a bit. You won't see more power with the FMIC per se, but you will definitely see that the car pulls more consistently. On the stock FMIC, I bet you'll see their advertised figures drop after a few pulls.

so if you get FRPP then add a bigger FMIC - then the stage 2 plugs are just not needed? or just insurance at that point?
Yeah, you won't have issues .. you can't put in a DP though with FRPP, you'll throw a CEL

If you decide to go custom tune route down the line just let your tuner know you have FRPP plugs and they'll be able to adjust tune for it (in a good way)

I ran a 200 cell catted downpipe and vibrant defoulerwith the frpp tune for about 10k miles. No cel and no issues. The octane academy st cars all had catless downpipes and intercoolers on the frpp tunes and those all ran fine as well. You won't make any extra power but it can be done

True! With defouler you'd be fine.

Reading through the Stratified tech articles, they alsp talk about a step colder plugs being useful on modified cars.
From what I've come to understand - every 75Hp Increase go one step colder on the plugs
