No actually, bought it brand new and it currently has 8k miles. I thought it was grease as well, just weird because I've only taken it to the dealer once for maintenance and never greased it myself.

Yeah, looks like gobs of goopy grease. I bought mine brand new too and I had lot of random pieces of tape and hose clamps not doing anything in the engine bay. Also found a few random rubber bands too. Lol
