Was talking with my "delivery specialist" while logging onto sync my ford and he brought up a ford web-site (I'll call and find out the site) that claims ford will be releasing the Focus RS in the US in 2014! 380-400 HP Turbo 5 cylinder duratec engine. No other details as I was more interested in getting out of the dealership at the time. This should be interesting...may be looking to trade up in a couple of years?

I'll believe this when I see it. There was talk that the MK1 RS was supposed to be released in the US but it never happened.

But if by dumb luck we actually see the RS here in the states in the near future, I will be in line for sure.

I would personally love to see it supercharged with AWD. Neither will happen. LOL

I forgot to mention, it was a Ford web site and the "delivery" guy seemed confident that this was accurate info. Have to talk with him today, he managed to get my e-mail address wrong and I can't access my sync my ford account. I will get the web address from him.

Rs would never come to us simply because of governing issues and ford wouldent want to top their own fastest focus that soon. Impossible.

Well it seems like the ST has become more or less a regular model with them dropping the SEL and upping the standard features on the Titanium. The RS could become a limited run high performance model. Kinda like Dodge has the R/T and SRT models.

The article states the car will produce 240kw...this is equal to approx. 321hp.

Was out at Ford yesterday to re-sign gap insurance papers...my Delivery Specialist was busy with clients and I was not able to get the web address I wasted. I'll call him after 9:00 and see what I can find.

Actually, check the 2.5L Duratec (Volvo spawn) that's what the guys on the other side of the Pond have had for a while now in their STs.

Check out Wabbit1's post on the UK owners thread. His white ST is the 2.5L turbo 5 cylinder is rated right at 301hp.

My personal very educated guess ;) is that there won't be one for the 2014 model year.
Hhhhmmmm. I guess you're going off the Mayan calender for 12/21/2012 or is that 12/22/2012? Pre-book it now but only put down a small down payment. I'm considerng it but it has to meet one of the two critieria I have. It has to be either rear wheel or AWD.

I dont think it will happen! From what ive read and seen in interviews with FORD reps the ST is the big model. They combined the US SVT unit with the RS europe team to build this car and formed the name ST. The ST is going to be the main car now and no more RS or SVT... And i dont see them upgrading the ST's engine in just one year!

Only way I'd consider going for it if it were AWD, but the article indicates it's only FWD - for me, for a daily driver, that's just too much power for a front drive car - sometimes I miss my Speed6 and how you didn't have to worry about spinning tires every time you took off fast. :(
