Hello 2017 focus st1, big turbo. I'm looking at upgrading the brakes. Rotors and pads and maybe even calipers if the price is right. I'm looking at the power stops, does anyone know anything about them? Does anyone recommend anything? Thanks!

No exprience with the brakes, but do have experience with Panda. If you decide to purchase them, find them somewhere else or be prepared for very poor customer service.

I have the power stops on mine, although I'm running the RS size rears thanks to a frankenbrake upgrade out back. The brakes are definitely better than the stock setup was.

I picked up my parts from carparts.com, and their customer service has been pretty good in my experience, and so were the prices.

I see a powerstop brake kit on their website with calipers and it's super cheap. I was kind of sketched out because how cheap it was compared to other sites lol. Let me see if I can find it.

I got the bigger rear rotors and caliper brackets from @STallion18 if I remember right, so I didn't have those on the order. I also think I ended up with the z26 pads on the fronts and z23 rears.

Did you get the stainless steel braided lines too?
Nope, just what posted there in that screen grab. You may want to grab a set of @Damond Motorsports caliper bushings for the front and rear calipers, though. That made a difference in how the pedal feels - it was more firm on hard braking (IMO).

I use centric blank rotors, EBC red stuff pads, and also install the Damond caliper bushings. I also have braided lines but I don't think they really did much.

Very pleased with this setup, no issues and the brakes feel good. I don't race it, if I did I'd move up to yellow stuff pads, or something more race oriented from EBC. I've been very pleased with their offerings.

I updated the brakes on mine after I installed the larger turbo, too.. turns out it could get to well over the speed limit a lot faster than it could stock, but it just couldn't haul it down from those speeds with the stock brakes very effectively.

I have centric blank rotors front and rear, Hawk hps pads in the front and some regular Duralast pads in the rear, good street and autocross setup. I plan on doing dtc-60’s on the front for track use, I have stainless lines as well but I also didn’t notice a difference

For street use Z23 are okay, very similar initial bite like OEM. Don't know about fade on track use. I used Z26 front on the track for a couple of years. Some people doesnt like it, but it worked better than stock pads through does years. Still, about half life on the pads. Z23 Will work good on the back, the rear brakes doesn't work has hard as the fronts by design so you need to increase the leverage. I use NRS pads on the back with 4 years of track use already, still looking good. Damond bushings will help with the OEM floating calipers.

I have a set on my ST. I think if you live in a sunny weather climate with no snow they should be fine. However, my drilled power stop rotors + pads got all scored up, rocks stuck in the drills, and brake dust/gunk also stuck in the drills after daily driving in salt/snow however. Last time I am getting drilled rotors on my car. No need unless you are doing some serious tracking or autox. In my experience, I would not get them. Also, the ceramic low-dust pads aren't low dust at all, I don't really care about the dust thought. I am changing them out this season for EBC Yellow stuff and non-dilled Brembo rotors, much more reliable, durable, and performing setup IMO. Also, the cost was a little over 300 CAD for the fronts so it's also cheaper than the power stops. Just my 0.02$ Get some EBCs....

those are my go-to pads for everything now after a lot of trial and error. I don't know if they would be acceptable track pads, but for street use, they are the sweet spot in my opinion. IF you are easy on the brakes, they are extremely low dust, no noise, and very good stopping power if you need to call on them. I stick with the stock rotors as well.
It should also be noted, those can be bought on Rock Auto or Amazon.

My ST had the Z23 kit front and rear when I bought it. My experience spans 16 months of use (about 4k miles) from 15 degrees to 95 degrees, from stop and go city to relatively hard use on mountain roads (tail of the dragon, etc).

IMHO, I believe the powerstop z23 kit would be plenty for the vast majority of drivers on the street. The brake dust was super mild and you literally don’t need wheel cleaner.. soapy water and a rag takes the dust off immediately. Zero brake noise, and they honestly had decent bite even under 20 degrees outside.

The initial bite is a bit soft, but overall great performance. Imho, they’re good to go, especially since rock auto currently has an $80 instant rebate on them.

if shop around you could do a full RS Brembo and frankenbrake mod for about $350 more.. do that with powerstop z23 kit and you have a very good street setup for around $750 for F&R.
