Justin's just a one man operation so he's never on the forum anymore. He is still very active on Facebook on his own profile and Freektune page. I mean I just so happen to be freektuned but before I made that choice I talked to a good number of guys and his knowledge is incredible. If you talk to the stratified guys, they are also wizards in the ecoboost world. We're just lucky to have awesome people supervising our platformI agree. I wouldn't let this thread alone make that decision for you; I think you're jumping the gun. If you're like me, I've been reading a researching to the point my head hurts. One thing I have seen is tons and tons and tons of praise for Stratified around here. But beyond that, an equal amount of tonnage of support and great responses from the guys at Stratified. I've seen them jump in many many threads not directly targeted st them and have not seen the same from Freektune. Just an innocent, outside observation.
Not necessarily. Torque is a direct function of airflow. Stratified appears to be limiting the turbo down low versus Mountune, which is throwing the balls to the wall immediately. While Mountune might be pushing it harder down low, that doesn't necessarily mean its less safe than Stratified (all of the tunes are making the same peak power at the same engine speed, which means they are making the same boost then as well). Anyway, limiting torque at lower engine speeds helps prevent wild wheel-spin and creates much more of a surge feeling.I've been reading and there is a huge difference in the power outputs of the 4 comparable tunes. My question is why is the Mountune tune about 40tq greater than the Stratified? Does this mean that the mountune is pushing the limits in the danger area where Stratified is playing it safe? I'm a little concerned who to go with based on some of these numbers.
Randy at Mountune has probably been in the Ford tuning game longer than anybody. He doesn't push limits and will even dial things back if you ask him to.I've been reading and there is a huge difference in the power outputs of the 4 comparable tunes. yup it has the same FRPP warranty that the FRPP tune has.Is there any sort of warranty maintained by Mountune that might be beneficial?
Im experiencing the same with freek. Tames the low boost with more mid and upper. I also did the actuator upgrade alsoSorry to revive an old thread but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I just finished the e-tuning process with Justin at Freektune and just wanted to hear some peoples thoughts on this tune vs the Cobb stage 2 which I have been running before. So far I like the tune and not sure if it's just me but is the Cobb tune more aggressive in the bottom end, it feels more punchy to me then the Freektune which feels much more linear.
Ok good to know, do you prefer that? Also what is the actuator upgrade, sorry haven't heard of that.Im experiencing the same with freek. Tames the low boost with more mid and upper. I also did the actuator upgrade also

Turbo smart actuator, stronger part to hold boost better on the top end. Factory part peaks boost early then drops, ts holds a more linear curve all the way to red line.Ok good to know, do you prefer that? Also what is the actuator upgrade, sorry haven't heard of that.
Oh ok gotcha, yeah I replaced my BPV with the Mountune re-circ valve but haven't done the actuator, I'll look into that as well. Yeah I did notice the car didn't break loose as much which is good but I did kinda like the little more punchy feel haha. And yes, i prefer the more tame low end as these cars don't hook, so by cutting a little power early to maintain traction and shifting it further down the rpms yields a quicker (faster if you call the st fast) with better mid and top end

Just a FYI, the Mountune BPV is covered under the frpp parts warranty but a wga will not be covered and may lead to voided coverage if certain items fail due to it ie. turbo., with that said you can also tighten the stock wga but you need to adjust tune for it afterwards.Oh ok gotcha, yeah I replaced my BPV with the Mountune re-circ valve but haven't done the actuator, I'll look into that as well. Good to know, my warranty is up anyway being my car a '13 so no worries on that. Yes, a custom tune is requiredGood to know, my warranty is up anyway being my car a '13 so no worries on that. Does the Turbo Smart actuator also require a tune adjustment?
