Hello all,

tldr; Anybody know any good tuners/technicians/installers in Northeast TN? Specifically from Knoxville to Tri-Cities TN or even Asheville, NC. I have been researching and the pickings seem to be really slim.

Longer Version:

Been lurking on the forum for a while and for the most part have been impressed by the spirit of cooperation.

As I am sure you guessed, I am the new owner of a 2016 Focus St, hooray. After a lot of back and forth between the Sti, Golf R, and the Focus I decided to go for what I think is the best fun to cost ratio. I did try to get an RS, but we all know what that entails, so.... I have an ST.

I'm interested in having some suspension and brake work done. Once that is completed I would like to have some performance upgrades installed. Probably in the form of a kit from Cobb or Mountune that contains the exhuast, intercooler, and tune. However, I will note that I'm still researching the tuning aspect as there seems to be some dislike of both Cobb and Mountune (more towards Mountune). I haven't determined if that is due to them being too "commercial" or there being serious issues with their products.

My goals are modest. I'm looking to enhance the fun to drive aspect of the car and NOT looking to spend time at the track. Repeat, I will not be drag racing on the street or at the track. This is strictly for my enjoyment and this car is a daily driver.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I drew crickets on this post so I had to take my chances with an unknown. I ended up using RM Motor Werks out of Knoxville which was almost exactly 100 miles from my house.

Roddy (the owner) was awesome. Absolutely a professional. I told him what I had in mind and and within 30 minutes I had an estimate delivered via email. He did exactly what he said he would, when he said he would, for the price he said he would. He touched a good portion of my car (brand new 2016 Focus ST) and I couldn't even tell he had been in it. I highly, highly recommend him. I had never met him nor did I have a referral. I found him via the Cobb site as he is a Cobb dealer, as well as a KW dealer.

I had him install:

Cobb Stage 3 Kit (Includes cold air intake, intercooler, catback exhuast, down pipe, AP, etc.)
KW Variant 3 Coilovers
Mountune RMM (I didn't use the Cobb RMM as I wanted something a little softer)
NGK Iridium Spark plugs
Breedt Quick Shift Arm
Boomba Transmission Cable Bracket Bushings
Boomba Shifter Base Bushings

That's a nice list of mods! Funny story, I used to work with Roddy at another shop in Knoxville. I went off to school, and he went off and opened his own shop. He is a great guy. Always humble, and I would be surprised to hear anything other than great things about him.

Hey Baxter,

I haven't been to any of the meetings, but yes, Roddy was excellent. I talked to a few other guys from the area I live and they were the complete opposite. Completely unprofessional. They could very well be good at what they do, but they lacked any business sense.
