What's your budget? You want an LSD in it? Upgrade to carbon fiber synchronizers? What kind of power do you want to ultimately make? Going to leave the motor with the stock turbo or upgrade to something that breathes a little better?
Right... Which in my opinion puts a Clarke trans in the ballpark for cost comparison, and I'd just rather have them build one for me when that time comes since I know it'll be done right... Of course, that assumes you don't have to eat the $2K core charge, though.... That would be painful. When you say budget what is number you are looking at?
Just to fix 3rd gear you will need a new 3rd gear, 3rd synchro, and a new 3-4 slider, possibly a new 3-4 fork. You're look at 800 dollars right there in parts. 1-6 cf syncrhos would be about 400. An LSD would be another 750 to 1300 depending on who you go with. Bearings 150, fluid 70, seals 50, and bolts 20. So thats about 2500 for everything.
I’ve been debating this for a few months. I’m going to go with a Clarke trans. I messaged him a couple times about core policy, shipping and turnaround time for a off the shelf.Right... Yeah so this is the discussion I was just having with my wife. If I send it and it has issues I can build the original trans then swap. I could just open it and look at the forks and synchros and send it. I’m guessing the LSD, synchros, bearings and hardware would be about $2k.Any idea how the shifter forks and synchronizers are in it? If there's any doubt as to what condition they're in, I'd crack open the case, at least.... And if you're opening it up, you may as well think about installing an LSD like @TurboGT did with his... And if you're doing that, you may as well upgrade the synchros to the carbon fiber units...
Just think of it as the transmission equivalent of "if you give a mouse a cookie". 😄
Right... Would probably be about that much depending on the LSD you got. BTW, which clutch are you going with? Stock RS or ST clutch, or something with hopefully more holding ability? I mean, since you've already got the BT, you may as well put something in for a clutch that will hold the power if you wanted to turn the wick up a bit, right? 😈😈Yeah so this is the discussion I was just having with my wife. I did a Spec. 3+ for stock FW when I built the motor. I might do a Spec stock type Single Mass FW when I install. See I didn’t want to spend any more money at that time and I wanted to be easier on the trans. Keeping the dual mass. Mainly the synchros I was thinking about. I’m going to do a SS clutch line and RS slave cylinder too.Right... Would probably be about that much depending on the LSD you got. BTW, which clutch are you going with? Go with the Steeda line. Its made by somebody else, but iirc is stainless fittings. I run the Steeda on my Bullitt.Ok so when the trans goes in it’s getting a RS slave cylinder and a SS clutch line. Anyone have suggestions or input on the line? Which one they used and experience with it.
Really? I'll have to check mine since I was one of the first to install it.Go with the Steeda line. Its made by somebody else, but iirc is stainless fittings. I run the Steeda on my Bullitt.
I dont recommend the JPC. The ends rusted up pretty badly.
Good to know. The Steeda line holding up good so far for you?Go with the Steeda line. Its made by somebody else, but iirc is stainless fittings. I run the Steeda on my Bullitt.

Yeah, was not thrilled. Mike is in the same climate, so he will get the same results. He's about 1.25 hours northReally? I'll have to check mine since I was one of the first to install it.
