Alright thank you! I'll do some research.I've browsed a few of the tire suggestion threads, (there's quite a few on here if you want to do your own research) a lot of people recommend the Michelin Pilot Sports or Super Sports depending on what you want. The Super Sports are usually the most recommended. I think the Super Sports are being replaced or superseded, so there may be sales on them in some places. I don't know much, but there's a few questions you'll want to consider that I'll throw out there then after your answer, other users with more experience can recommend based on what you need since I don't have any tire experience yet.
What's your driving style? Do you track often? Mainly casual DD with a few on ramp pulls? Drive spiritedly every day?
Do you care about price?
How much do you care about grip?
How much do you care about longevity/tread wear?
Do you need all seasons?
Are these for summer only if you live in the North?
As goes with most things, pick 2 from the following list of 3 and that's all you get:
Good Longevity/tread wear
Good Price
Good Grip
Is that warranty from a specific dealer? Like only from Tire Rack for example? Or is it no matter where you get them from as long as they are new? And I remember you saying something about these being superseded soon. Is that official yet? Will I still be able to buy them new like next summer or winter of 2018/19 for example?I definitely am a firm Pilot Super Sport supporter. Not only because they are #1 in all categories of Summer tire, but because going by the little rule of thumb at the bottom of @poletrain 's post...they are the best gripping summer tire, they aren't THAT expensive if you consider how much the F1 summers cost our car comes with, they have a 30k mile warranty.
Same as any new tire warranty from an authorized dealer. Warranted for defects for first 30K miles. If the tires prematurely wear or have a defect in that time as long as it is not an issue with your car, you should be eligible for credit on the remaining tread (so not full price of tire). Realistically warranty claims on tires are fairly rare. The real value is that the tire warranty gives you an idea of the mileage to expect out of a tire. Also, summer tires/high performance tires rarely have a mileage warranty. There may be a few for the ST that do. I am aware of the Pilot Super Sport and Continental ExtremeContact Sport having mileage stated in the warranty. Is that warranty from a specific dealer? Like only from Tire Rack for example? There are many factors to consider when picking our a new set of tires. Poletrain has laid out many good questions that would help you choose which tire is right for your needs. We happen to have a sale on all our tires with our 4th of July Sale that started yesterday.Recently got a nail in one of my tires on my 2016 ST, it's about time I got new tires anyways, any suggestion on which tires I should get? Right now it's sitting on Goodyear 235/40R18 95Y.
