I need some suggestions on good tires, with exceptional grip that aren't too terribly expensive.

I had a set of General Gmax AS-05 on my SRT 4 Caliber and I was pretty happy with them. They were holding up pretty well and the grip was excellent. My car did not have traction control during the time these tires were in use so they could have gotten eaten up pretty badly. I put 25k miles on them and they still looked like they had half their life left.

I am likely to try the Sumitomo HTR-Z III's once I use up my Eagle F1's. I've had Sumitomo HTR's in the past and was always impressed with their performance vs price. The Michelin PSS will be a better tire overall, but a set of HTR-Z's can be had for $450

I went today to discount tire and asked for super sports, and they told me that they are discontinued (Kinda, not really) but they gave me Michelin PS4S for the same price. Try it out! I won't have them on until Friday or so, but with everything added up, less than $1k.

Not too bad for supposedly an even better, "best" tire out there if you ask me.

You can save some money with our July 4th sale that ends today. You didn't mention what size you are looking for? Here is a link where you can plug in the year make and model of your Focus ST and see all the tires that fit along with reviews.
