It’s officially time to start swapping. Anybody have tips or suggestions with anything? I know there’s some forums already but wanted to know if anyone has got any tricks up their sleeve to help with the swap. Any help is appreciated !

Take off the cowl before you do anything else. Opens up the entire engine bay, even let's you access the negative battery terminal.

Plan on going in through the front or top drop?
front, doing it at home with no lift
Baggie and label everything!
Make sure you have a chair or something to sit the radiator and everything on so it doesn't kink AC lines.

Don't forget to be liberal taking photos, 3x as many as you think you need. Especially harness routing, all that stuff. It's easy to do and makes figuring things out a LOT easier going back together. And don't forget lighting for the photos. The thing you need to see in detail seems to always be in the background in the dark

That is exactly how I did it on my 2003 BMW 330i. Just easier that way.

Get a big sheet of cardboard and poke bolts into it as you remove them. You can write on the cardboard, so it acts to keep things labeled and grouped. This is especially handy for the transmission bellhoushing bolts since there's a couple longer or odd ones.

Make sure you purchase the big turbo tune right now, so you can have the base map loaded up to the ECM before you start the car.

Who do you run your tune by?

Both my Powermax and my GTX turbo were tuned by edge autosport.

Make sure you upgrade that plastic BPV too! I installed the ford racing unit for the Focus RS when I had my powermax.

Could you post a link with that part?

The reason you need RS parts is because Honeywell (Garrett) makes the RS turbo. They use their own style and size wastegate actuator and bypass valve versus copying the stock Borg Warner specs. There's probably legalities there as well.
