Thanks for the shop manual ddfred I've found the factory publications to be way better than a Haynes or chilltons book. And thanks for the welcome. I tried to attach a photo, but it looks like it didn't turn out. Let's try again.

Welcome!
My little drop of advice to all the new Ecoboost owners is:
Look up what "Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI)" is then, never do that.

CHEERS!!!

^ this and never got WOT in 6th gear. Far too many guys are blowing up their cars just because they think it's OK to WOT in 6th gear at 2k rpm.

:whs: I wasn't doing this, but coming from a manual Ford Escort beater car it was common that I would lazily just refuse to downshift and ride out too high a gear because it wasn't turbo'd and didn't hurt anything other than my acceleration. In the ST, if you need to accelerate and you are below 3k just downshift. If you don't downshift then just ease into it. You don't need a bunch of gas, our car accelerates faster than most commuter cars even at 5psi of boost.

2 weeks in and I'm having a blast! The car is a pure joy to drive. My previous commuter cars have been a 92 Festiva and an 05 ZX3, very pedestrian. I have a couple of large powerful vehicles but nothing this fast. I'm seeing that it's best to run these things in the higher rpm range. It makes sense, more engine speed = better performance from the turbo. My only gripe is the tinny gas tank. I will be doing a de facto longevity test on this car as my commute alone will put on 24k a year. Thanks for the well wishes.
