Project Focus ST is in high gear here at Superchips. We got one of the first Focus ST2s to arrive at dealerships in Orlando last year and released the Superchips SCR on Febuary 20, 2013. As seen here: SCR

After figuring out how to get the ecu's torque limiting strategies out of the way, We made great power with a bone stock setup gaining over 50 ft/lb of trq from 2500 to almost 4000 rpm and boosting peak power from from 227hp to 247 hp.

Soon enough we decided that it just wasn't good enough anymore. So we got a hold of the great guys at Forge Motorsport...

The guys at Forge Motorsports sent us over one of their intercooler kits (Intercooler) and a recirculating bypass valve (Recirc Valve)

We got started right away on the intercooler install. The install went along smoothly taking up a nice afternoon just before the July 4th break. The intercooler mounts up using the stock mounts and feels very firmly mounted. The piping kit looks very nice and removes a few restrictions in the intake tract.

The dyno results showed the focus was quite happy with the Intercooler. While no peak tq was made due to the massive tq spike at the start of the run, there was a pretty nice improvement to the tq curve picking up 25 ft/lbs of tq at 2800 rpm and 5 hp at peak.

Without the tune, the intercooler still quite a performer making large improvements to the entire tq curve and picking up just over 20 hp.

Next we got our hands on a FSWerks Cool-Flo Plus Air Intake (Intake) The intake looks really solid and was a breeze to install.

The intake performed well on the dyno with gains of 5-10 ft/lbs of tq throughout most of the tq curve and boosting peak power by 9 up to 260 hp with the intercooler and Superchips tune. Untuned, the intake gains were a bit lower boosting power output from 248hp to 252hp with the intercooler still installed.

There is more to this intake than just the numbers though. It sends the fun factor through the roof. The car now sounds like a turbo car should, you hear the bov and turbo even over the noise pipe with the windows down. When paired with our tune and the intercooler, the focus pulls hard all the way up to the rev limiter and doesn't feel like it falls off at the top end. We highly recommend both of these products!

The next items on our list is to round out the common bolt ons with a downpipe and exhaust and then move project focus on to some bigger projects with a turbo upgrade and get this car really rolling.

Stay tuned
