I'm having a problem with the portion of the dash that is closest to the windshield being extremely sticky. What got me to notice it in the first place is that there was a hair on there that I attempted to wipe off and my microfiber cloth got stuck to it. What can I do to remedy this? I've never ran into this situation before.

Do a search for Lexus IS300 melting dash. That car had a horrible flaw with the coating material on the dash. It would become soooo tacky that you literally could not wipe it with a cloth or do anything with it. I hope this car is not experiencing something similar. The ONLY repair for the Lexus is to remove, strip, and refinish the dash. It took about 10 years before mine started degrading, but once it started it went fast.

If the car is relatively new, it could just be from the outgassing of the plastics. Basically when the plastic is made, there are chemicals that get trapped inside of the plastics. As the car gets hot from sun through the windsheild, the pores open up and slowly release the gases. This is what gives you the "new car smell". This is completely normal. When I first cleaned my car, there was black crap all over my microfiber cloth from the outgassing. It will also cake on your windsheild as well.

You could dilute some APC, as APC might be a little strong on its own. I see someone mentioned 10:1 and then 5:1 if it isn't strong enough. I recommend this. Just do not let it sit there and dry. Get the crap off and then get back in and clean the APC off with a damp cloth and then use whatever protectant you use on the dash.

I know I am a little late to this but my car did this too. The only thing I used on that section was DP's Interior Cleaner and the protectant. It did it on the plastic part of the dash and also the top plastic part on the back doors. I would clean it and it worked but would eventually come back. Maybe certain cleaners make it worse.

Very late to the party. I noticed the same stickiness on the hard plastic part of the dash next to the windshield. Has anyone had any luck with using APC to remove the stickiness? Is it a permanent solution or is this something we're going to have to deal with for the life of the car?

My car never developed the stickiness, but when I had a Miata some of those cars did. The dash was painted on the plastic gauge hood, and when the paint failed, it got sticky.
