As the title suggests.... I am extremely disappointed in my car after "going stage 3." I have cobb ap, depo dp, and cp-e front mount with stratified ots tune on a 15 ST1. I saw the biggest difference in power on stage 2 but there is literally no difference stage 2 to stage 3. Im only boosting 21.9 psi (which might be part of the problem). I GOT ABSOLUTELY WALKED YESTERDAY BY MY FRIENDS 13 ST3. All he has is ford racing tune. No intercooler or dp and he embarrassed me. Im so pissed off that I spend north of $1,000.00 for the mystical "stage 3" that everyone jerks off thinking about, just to get walked by my buddies $400.00 tune that doesn't void your warranty. What a joke, I should have just bought a charger...

Well before you went on this huge rant you should have done a little research. OTS tunes aren't really good at getting big power. They are designed to be safe because every car is different. You would see a night and day difference with a custom tune that is built for your car and the mods you have. Because a Stage 3 custom tuned ST will beat your Charger.

I'll walk your charger all damn day. If you were to get a "custom" tune the ST will eat up a 400$ tune any day, plus driver mod? I dont know on that point but...:nerd:
I could take your car and walk a charger....
Before you get angry at the car look at yourself first. The car is just doing that, car stuff. Its you who makes it go. Not putting you down in no way, just stop for a sec and look at the situation properly.

Trust me, I did plenty of research... Maybe its because of all of the people who constantly hype up "stage 3" I was expecting a little bit more from the ots maps than I got, but seriously... I got embarrassed by an ST with just a "OTS" tune and no supporting mods so how can someone possibly say "stage 3 doesn't make power without a custom tune" when another OTS tune is obviously vastly superior. And I don't care what kind of stage 3 custom tune youre running, no way in hell it can hold a candle to a charger scat pack with the 6.4L. Not without big turbo anyway.

Damn someone sounds salty, sell the ST and buy the boat that is the charger. If losing a straight line race is that big of deal to you, you picked the wrong car.

Also your buddy spent more than 400 to get his tune, because it should have been done by a dealership to prevent questioning if there is a problem down the road.

Driver mod?... If youre assuming I don't know how to drive you are seriously mistaken. There's nothing a driver can do when half way through 3rd gear on a 40 roll you're already getting pulled on by someone who is in the same gear as you. And like I said to the other guy, no way a non big turbo ST will take a 6.4L charger, especially top end. And me who makes it go? Sorry but my car doesn't have the floor boards cut out like the flinstones lol :haha:

I am salty lol. Im waiting for this big power everyone always talks about and I am highly skeptical on throwing anymore money at my car hoping for something that its not going to ever achieve. That is all that im saying. And yes my buddy only paid about $4-- on his ford racing tune since its been out for a while. Hes also ASE certified so he did it himself. He didn't really care about retaining the warranty enough to take it to the dealer. Don't get me wrong, the ST is a fun little car, but in south florida the only turns we have come at intersections. There are no fun roads down here which is what the ST excels at. Highway pulls are just about all we have.

I completely understand you're a bit salty I would be too, furthermore Don't assume that I assume you don't know how to drive please. WHAT went through my head was, "maybe he needed more time with the car."

P.S.

I could walk the charger all day

Did your OaR settle? You said you were running Stratified. OAR makes a huuuuuuge difference on those tunes. I know because I thought the same thing (stg1 to stg3) . I was disappointed till my OAR settled.

The difference even between Cobbs ots tune and a company like Stratified's OTS tune is laughable, and if you go with a custom tune it'll be that much better. I have their stage 2 tune and I can't keep up with a new SRT8 Charger or a 5.0 Mustang in a straight line, but just about anything less than those I eat up. You'll not only get better power on the top end from Stratified, but better throttle response down low. It will behave completely different.

Threads like this make my day. Good luck getting your car sorted out or selling it, whichever you end up doing. :)
Glad I could make your day lol.

PLEASE NO ONE TAKE ANY OF MY BITTERNESS PERSONALLY, I SWEAR I DONT MEAN ANYTHING BY IT I JUST NEEDED TO VENT MY FRUSTRATIONS. I WILL ABSOLUTELY BE GETTING A CUSTOM TUNE BUT THAT IS THE LAST THING IM GOING TO TRY. IF STILL NO POWER, ILL BE LOOKING INTO OTHER FAMILY FRIENDLY OPTIONS THAT HAVE GOOD POWER AND DONT REQUIRE ME VOIDING MY WARRANTY.

If i lived in florida id buy a boat, or ugh charger too. But here in PA we have nice curvy, hilly roads where charger drivers usually cant keep up with miatas lol.

Also if your running a Stratified tune get the OAR down to -1 before expecting any real difference in power.

Get a custom tune and quit your *****in...... Its a ford focus not a Ferrari FF.

Or get a big turbo and come play with the big boys.
I am perfectly happy with my Stratified tune. I am stage 2 (hopefully back to stage 3 soon), but my OAR has not settled yet. I am only at -.020 right now and haven't had much of a chance to work that number down yet. I was Cobb stage 2, then 3 and then switch to stratified which was muuuuuuuuch better. Then again I don't really race the foolios around here because I don't really care to. I am not out to prove anything. Even if I did get walked by another car I wouldn't care that much because I still really enjoy my car. A custom tune will make a huge difference for sure though.

I have kept up with stage 3 custom tuned ST's who eventually pulled on me and I would expect them to since they were better tuned than me.

Either way don't drive off a cliff yet. Also send in data logs to the guys at Stratified so they can make sure everything is running as it should.

All this stage stuff is stupid anyway. The ONLY hard part that really matters on a stock turbo ST is the Downpipe. The intercooler is going to help things live longer but no real power gains. The stock exhaust is fine and so is the intake.

A car with just a downpipe and a "stage 3 tune" is going to make the SAME power as a car with an intake, exhaust, and intercooler. The only way to make real power is to get a bigger turbo.

The only reason I use "stages" is that a lot of people use that as a reference point. I agree with you that a DP make a huge difference. I also think an upgraded FMIC will prevent heat soak which will rob you of power.
