I noticed yesterday my driver side headlamp was out. Driving this morning I noticed the lamp would turn on for a split second then go out again.

Playing with the headlamp switch after work, it didn't go on at first, then went on for a half seond, then finally lit up. Any ideas?

I'd start with the bulb. That's what my maxima was doing when the bulb went bad.

Looks like Osram D8S PN#66548. Can't find too many online, might check with the dealer parts counter.

From the looks of it you have a 13 or 14 so the D8S is correct. Depending on the cost of the bulb that you try to get, it might be worth it to look at doing the upgrade to the D3S as many of us have done. Just my $0.02. I can't vouch for it, but I found this on ebay New OEM Osram Xenarc 66548 D8S Xenon HID Bulb Head Light headlight lamp | eBay.

I've been following the thread and debating the upgrade. It's driving me nuts because as of late it'll stay on for 2-5 minutes and then turn off until I restart the car.

The problem is the lamp if it lights then shuts off after. The ballast's job is to create current high enough to ignite the lamp so if that is happening it should be fine.

My headlight is doing the same thing. When the other lamp went out, it turned purple. This one works sometimes, but sometimes it will come on for a second , then go off.Is it the ballast?

On my SVTF when the light was purple it was the HID bulb. I'd imagine if it was the ballast you would not be getting any light.
