Hi I just purchased a 2013 ST2 recently and the Recaros are already a gripe. I'm just too fat for them and the leg bolsters hurt after extended periods of driving. I have manual partial leather seats and was wondering if a swap for ST1 cloth seats was possible. I have heard that the passenger side is a bit tricky due to the airbags but I was just wondering if you guys could possibly help out?

Where are you located? I have a co-worker with a 15 ST1 that I can ask if he wants to do a seat swap

The swap will be straight forward and you shouldn't have any airbag issues swapping between any of the 3 trim levels of ST's from 2013-2014. The only airbag issue I've seen is swapping to regular focus seats, the passenger occupancy sensor gel pad is different. I did get an airbag light sometimes right after the swap once, but after clearing the code and/or disconnecting the battery it went away and never came back. I've personally put three different sets of ST3 seats into my ST1 and have sold the other 2 to other ST1 owner's who've installed them with no issues. I have another set for sale right now on here as I'm swapping to full racing seats for the track and back to my ST1's for normal driving.

Note, 2015+ have totally different electrical connectors and some different sensors. It's possible to make it work, but generally much more work than it's worth.

Apparently 2015+ models have totally different electrical connectors and some different sensors. I wish I could take them off you.

So this has not been done before I find it strange that simple connectors and sensors stop people from doing this?

If you don't have to have the ST logo on your replacement seats, AFAIK, any cloth 2013-14 Focus seat should work. Have you tried carpart.com? You should be able to pick up a set for 200 or less.

If you end up having an airbag light on your new seats, and it is due to the occupancy sensor, you can swap the whole gel pad, or other people have just swapped the sensor over really quickly without spilling any of the gel liquid.

No the logo does not matter at all to me. When it comes to seats the most important thing to me is comfort. Do you know anyone on the forums that has done this specific swap to just standard seats? (I've seen the Titanium swaps)? theory is great but to me experience is better

Hey Op!
I have a 2014 RR Focus ST1 and i am in the baltimore area! If you willing to do a straight trade for our seats i would be more then willing to deep clean my seats, travel to you, and perform the swap if we have the space required. PM me if you are interested!

I'm confused if you are in DC or Ohio. I live in VA Beach, I'm down for the drive Sunday if you want to trade for 2016 ST1 seats with 5K miles in great shape. If the problem will be on my part, it's fine. ST1 doesn't have power seats so you should have no problem.
