Hey guys. I did some searching, but couldn't locate the collective information I was looking for.

I used to be a car audio installer in college, but haven't done much in the way of installing for a while now.

1) I am keeping the stock stereo. I am used to using a LOC, but I see people saying I need an LC2i or a LC6i which I have never used before. Do I really need one and if so why?

2) I will be installing a 500 watt RMS Pioneer amp and pairing it with my two 10 inch audiobahn subs rated at 250 RMS each. (This system was in my last vehicle and this is more for reference than a question).

3) I plan to upgrade the speakers as well with components in the front and 2 way speakers in the back so will I be needing the LC6i? I have never installed one before?

4) Since I am keeping the stock stereo I thought I could just use a LOC like pretty much every other car keeping a stock stereo I have done and then throw the speakers into the doors and call it a day.

5). Is the best route for the amp power wire behind the glove box?

6) Can anyone point me to a thread or video?

Thanks!

In for answers as well. I am mainly concerned about using a LOC. I thought those were only for stock systems that have an amp? From what i know, the ST1 doesnt have a stock amp, besides the radio

If you're going to power your rears off anything other than the factory amp, The lc6 or 7i are probably your better option. Can you do it with the 2, yes but you would be required to run splitters and such for the separate signals. IF you're just going to run the rears off the factory amp, then the 2i is sufficient.
If youre going to amp the fronts when you upgrade, maybe the AC LC-4.800 might be an option. Amp + Loc built in with output for subs amp.
Power wire is ran through a gromet behind the glove box, there are a few videos around already.

No, systems with the amp have to run resistors inline with the loc. With the ST1 you just have to grab the signal behind the radio, rather than from the trunk.

Basically you need to make this choice now. But I think you should buy the LC6i. Here's why.

The LC2i is only good for 2channels. So perfect for your sub installation.

However, the LC6i which is only about $20 more, offers you a future proof purchase, that you can run a 4, 5, or 6 channel amps to power your door speakers too.

What if I am just replacing the speakers to run off the stock deck and adding an amp and subs? Then I wouln't need anything other than the LOC correct? I am going to replace the speakers first and see how they sound and then move on from there. As far as I know I only need an LOC for the amp that is going to push my subs.

You know many amps already have a built in high-level input or native LOC. Obviously there are finer more minute reasons to get an aftermarket LOC...

Like I said... If you're only doing the sub, get the LC2i.
But for $20 more, you can future-proof yourself with an LC6i, and later add an amp for the door speakers.

Trying to revive an old thread here. I still don't really understand the purpose of the LC2I or the LC6I. Mainly because I have never had to use on of these before. I plan on upgrading all my speakers by installing componenets in the front and regualr two way speakers in the back. I will also be installing an amp and subs in the rear hatch.

I thought I could just use a standard LOC for the amp/sub combo, grab my turn on wire from a few available locations, run the power/ground, and then install the speakers in the doors to be powered by the factory stereo. Please tell me where I am missing something or what these magical LC2I/LC6I modules really do. Do they provide more power to the speakers? I will never get a sperate amp to power my speakers.

Can someone please clarify this for me?

Thanks.
