Hey guys!

So I'm approaching 5000 miles on my ST and I've began to change a couple things...

Tints
Cold Air Intake
...

What's the most important thing to do next??

In my opinion, should I change out the inter cooler and do a tune?

After that I want to change the exhaust, downpipe, and hoses.

What should I really do first, and just keep in mind my plan is to do everything I possibly can to make my ST as bad ass as all of yours!

Also, side note: What brands should I be, or not be, focusing on? I was heading towards Mountune as of right now.

First if you need to upgrade the flux capacitor.

Lol sorry for the useless post, someone with a modified car will come in soon and fill you with wisdom lol.

You will need a FMIC(CPE Lightweight for me), Tune (Stratified all the way), RMM (rear motor mount), lastly an upgraded BPV/BOV (stock one is garbage) . Do that to start with then come back for more. Also I personally think Mountune stuff is nice but expensive.

I was looking at the Stratified stuff last night, I think this may be the direction I take. I think i'm going to go with their Cobb Stage 2 Flash tune kit, I like the idea they put in a good motor mount with their kit, it shows they thought this out.

IMO the RMM is the first one I would go with. If you have driven your car hard, you felt the TERRIBLE 1st gear to 2nd gear "bump." It's a quick and easy mod that makes a HUGE difference in ride quality. Then the FMIC to keep from heatsoaking your car (stock one is heatsoaked noticeably after just ONE hard run), Tune (possibly the best option for your money), and if you wish the BPV/BOV is just a noise thing and not really performance gain...but is one of my favorite things on my car <3 If you wish to, people also love the short shift kits available for our cars. Boomba makes a good one.

Any of the last 3 can be done in any order without making much difference, just personal preference. And of course there is also an exhaust which is an expensive noise/fun item that provides some gains (mainly with a tune).

Luckily, we drive a car that has so many options and not much of a guideline we have to follow. Such a fun car to mod.

Edit: Also our cars' modding platform is so diverse, and just about every brand (Boomba, Cobb, Mountune, etc) are not very different from each other in performance, again...it's personal preference based on name/looks/sound/etc. I personally love Cobb products (RMM, Shift Kit, Tune) and will continue to stick with Cobb, but my BOV is Boomba (sounds the best IMO), as well as my wing risers.

Is there an advantage to the lightweight FMIC? I already had purchased the induction kit from Mountune, and I can't imagine that it's much different than COBB (hopefully). When I get the FMIC, should I get the cold charge pipe kit with the BOV and kill 2 birds with one stone?

Most testing hasn't shown much difference in FMIC performance, I'll try to find the thread for it and update this post. CPE and Cobb are common competitors that do essentially the same.

I just need to win the lottery now, then I can mod the crap outa my car @brian60
Right there with ya buddy, so many ideas I would love to do but funds don't allow! And the woman... but anyway, in terms of the FMIC here is a very extensive thread about them:

http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-...h-questions-source-bell-intercoolers-faq.html

That should answer all the questions about them you might have. It's literally just preference on brand/price/look/etc. I have Cobb's name all over my car and don't want CPE plastered to the front of my FMIC, so my personal preference based on looks is to get the Cobb FMIC. To each their own.

Any warranty issues with this stuff?
I haven't had any problems at all, when I do go in for warranty I just pull the tune out of it so I don't give them a reason to try and deny something. As many others have said on this forum, they have to prove that specific part you installed caused the failure.

Yeah with the Cobb Accessport you can just flash the stock tune back on, so before going in for warranty issues you can put the tune back to stock (which leaves no trace btw) and make sure you don't have rubber thrown up under your front wheel wells ;)

In all seriousness about the rubber under the wheel wells...a forum member was denied warranty fixes due to this. Shows you rip on the car.

As long as what @elyk864 said is the case (they can't prove you/a specific part caused the issue) they can't deny warranty. If they do fight them.

Even if they see COBB all over my engine bay? Lol
If I had a picture I would show you how Cobb my engine bay is haha. Gold heat-tape wrapped intake with a big Cobb logo on it, and a Cobb decal on my airbox, as well as the big obvious Cobb logo on my shift plate. All those things shouldn't directly lead to any "proof" so I'm good to go

IIRC most FMIC perform the same with the exception of Mountune. Mountune's focus is on more time spent on the track rather than maximizing the reduction of charge air temp.
Other FMIC are good at keeping charge air temp near ambient temp but may not help keep the whole car cool for extended time on track.

@elyk864 did you stick with the lightweight FMIC because you don't plan on going to a big turbo application?

At what point is the RMM really necessary? After the FMIC and tune??

When you put the FMIC on, did you install the charge pipes as well or did you wait till you got the BOV and got special charge pipes to fit your BOV. Is there a simple way to cap the stock BPV?

Lots of questions I know, but I want to be informed lol.

While mine is a 2013 the RMM was needed right away, the 15/16's may have bit more leeway on that. I did the lightweight FMIC because I will not be going BT as my car is a daily for me. I did the tune before the FMIC but I'd recommend waiting till the end of all the mods so you aren't spending more money on updates. I used the OE pipes and used the Mountune BPV which goes in the OE place. It operates just like OE just more robust to handle the abuse of high boost.
