Speaking of Forgestar.....

I ordered these specifically for autocross use. After waiting a month longer than I was originally told by the vendor, I test fit them and drove them around 10 miles initially. I used my stock wheels for daily use and to drive to autocross events, swapping wheels at the event. The first event I used them at was at CMP, where I made a total of 5 runs. The second time I used these wheels, I made a total of 2 runs and found that one was bent after the 2nd run from turning in a parking lot on street tires. Total miles on these wheels and tires would be around 20. Specs were 17x9, offset 42.
Morning of the 2nd event, right front wheel was the one that bent:

The lip was bent like this at every spoke all of the way around:

Videos from both events that I used them at:

On Forgestars behalf, they were quick to say they would replace it. Not sure how quickly that would have happened though...
Different story for the vendor though.... When I showed the vendor the pictures and spoke with them, he argued that Forgestar simply sent the wrong offset and asked if I expect him to believe that the wheel just "magically" bent perfectly all of the way around.

That said, I don't own these wheels anymore. I was planning on getting some Forgestar CF5s for daily use but that wont happen. I ended up getting some RPF1s from @OAKOS Automotive; eventually these will [probably] get used for daily use and I'll [probably] get another set of 17x9 for autocross over the winter, most likely from @PCA-1 (where I'll be ordering a diff from as well).

Sorry to hear that. I was considering ordering those... I have never seen a wheel damaged in that way from that little use especially. What I want to know is who the argumentative vendor was so I never buy anything through them. Implying your lying about a defective item is BAD business.
Delete/double. JP
Man those are beautiful wheels. Like your new ones too. 18" Forgestars are only 18.3 lbs. My kind of wheel. JP
Always heard horror stories about Forgestars. Definitely on my never going to buy list
Forgestars are cast not forged. Part of the issue there.

I'd bet that 90% of aftermarket wheels are cast and not forged.

Strange that they would do that. Did Forgestar figure out what was wrong with them? I'd think it's a manufacturing defect.
I have owned many more cast wheels then forged. Never seen this happen in any scenario no matter how hard a car has been driven. Not even with cheap never heard of the brand name ebay wheels.
That's interesting. I never would have thought, especially on street tires, that just turning hard could bend the rim. Considering how the rims bent in the same gaps all the way around, I agree with mykrrrr's point that there must be some manufacturing defect.

Edge. He wasn't necessarily saying that I was lying, but he sure as hell was not believing me...however you want to take that I suppose.... To say that he was on his customers side initially though would be a wrong assumption.

Yeah, I kinda liked them too. Wanted something different from the normal dark color wheels, but that didn't work out so well...

Cast wheels are not the problem.

Have not heard any reason why yet and not sure if I will; I'd assume the heat treating was screwed up somewhere along the way but that's just a guess....

I think that's right. If the casting was the problem, they likely would have cracked or broken, not bent. Hemi might know this, but it's almost as if the wrong alloy was used. As unlikely as that should be. JP
It's definitely strange. I just think the vendor shouldn't have questioned you about it. Maybe it's the way it was typed or the way I read it but it definitely seemed like they were trying to get you to insinuate you had done something to cause the failure.
