I have a 2016 ST2, bought it Jan 14 and it has 779 miles on it. Every time I start the car, with a couple exceptions, something down by my left leg beeps ten times. It used to do it one more time than the previous time I got in the car, but it seems to have capped at 10. It's not the normal "your seatbelt is not buckled" noise or "your door is open."

I took it to the local ford dealership and they couldn't re-create the problem, nor could they find any record of anyone else having the problem in the whole ford dealership/service system. I've been looking through the forum trying to find similar threads, but have not found any.

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it?

Edit: I'm an idiot and missed the mileage. Does it have an insurance-tool-plugin-thing in the OBD2 port? They monitor driving to see if you qualify for insurance discounts.

A member had a similar problem, but with a different noise. Turned out that his car was obtained through a dealer swap and the original dealer had a GPS tracking device installed. It made more of a spacey cartoon ray gun sound if I remember correctly.

Ray gun would be exactly the sound that I would describe it as. I just couldn't quite think of how to describe it.

^I could see the finance company wanting this done, but I have never had anything like this on any of my cars. I do have a GPS on my Ram truck that I bought used. The HVAC company I bought it from had it on their trucks to track them. I have been afraid to disconnect it because it is tied in with the ignition and I don't want to mess something up and not be able to start my truck. It does make a faint periodic beep. I can't hear it with the window down or radio on.

That is interesting. Never knew finance companies went to those extremes to track an asset. I know mine is clean cause I refinanced and moved after about a year of ownership but still an interesting find.

Only beeping I have heard of on these cars was the sound symposer in cold weather would make a beeping sound from time to time, when parked engine off 2013-14 models.
