The one you where looking in too.
Well there is a connector under both seats at the front of them. The element connectors would snap into those connectors. Then the other side would be the body harness connectors. Then you have the switches that turn the heat on and the body hardness has connectors from it to plug into the switches.

That said, I haven't looked into it yet.

I'm about to post a ton of pics with the wiring diagram and connector views from the 2013 ford focus wiring tech manual. Pardon the multiple hits on the thread but I think it might be able to help some people and hopefully someone will post a DIY build on adding a cheapo pad kit with the factory switches.

If anyone needs a connector location picture from the book hit me back (pm might work better) with the connector number and I will post that location to the thread.

There is a module for each seat, the BCM is not controlling the seats from what it appears, just providing that hot feed. No idea what the modules consist of other than they probably make sure the pads don't get but so hot and keep the wiring safe, relays and resistors and whatnot.

What controls the temps? I know the switches have like 3 settings or is it 5?
5 settings plus off or 0. I'm guessing each independent seat module is seeing the switch position and setting the right current to the pads based on that input. So to wire the factory pads and switch you will also probably have to get the modules too. Most of the aftermarket kits only have off, low, and high.

Yeah, I thought it might have another module. I don't recall when I priced out the elements if the module was part of it or not. But that should be easy to find out. If they are provided with the elements and prewired to them, that makes wiring it all up much easier.

I would like to do the factory elements and switches or get leather heated seats from another focus, but custom wiring will need to be done since the body harness is different on the St1. And I would get the proper pigtail adapters to make the connections as factory as possible.

And thanks a lot for the schematics. Once I decide how I want to do it I will need them for reference.

What is the part number for the factory heating pads. I just read through this thread again but didn't see it (I might be blind). Also, do we have a part number for the heated seat module yet, assuming it doesn't come with the pads.

I never got that far into it as the price started climbing high. I can say that when I did my ambient lighting I looked for the wiring for the switch in the body harness going to the console harness and those wires were missing if I remember correctly. I was going to tie into them for the ambient but it wasn't there.

So half the harness would have to be wired up using the schematics.
The way I want to do it, yes. As long as the pigtail harnesses are available. My concern is the variable heat and how that is handled. It isn't something I looked into yet. Is there something that regulates the voltage? I think the factory switches have 4 positions. Off and then 3 levels of heat.

Yeh from what it looks like the switches have a signal power running through them to tell the module how much current to send to the pads. It doesn't look like the stock switches will be able to be used without the module.

I got ahold of an ST3 console with all the E-brake and switches. Now I just have to figure out how to get everything else I need. From what I can see I will need the heater pads, and control modules to put this onto an ST2?

That's what it's looking like. Might need a roll of wire and those schematics, and a few pigtails or connector pins.
