I swapped in an RS shifter on my '14 FoST ST3 and am loving the feel and positioning. One issue is that the RS shifter boot frame doesn't seem to lock into the surrounding trim perfectly although it is fitting but not clicked in place like the ST shifter boot frame was- maybe due to different fastener pattern on the 15-18. I am getting a creaking noise when shifting into 2nd and it is due to the frame not being totally seated. I am thinking of just gluing it in place. Any other suggestions?

Did you try swapping the trim/locking ring from your '14 over to the RS boot? I'm pretty sure that they're shaped differently.

I looked at swapping the rings but the original shifter boot is glued to it pretty thoroughly and the only way to remove it would be to cut itfrom what I can tell. Is there a way to easily remove the original boot and reverse lockout and swap it onto the RS shifter?
