How is this done? Ive heard of people doing it, I read a thread where a guy said "you can remove them by sticking your hand up there, ugh WUT???, any videos or illustrations of this?

Sorry i meant shutters. The Active shutter system that blocks airflow to the inter-cooler

I don't think the shutters will come out without removing the bunper, and if they do I can't see how it would be quicker than removing the bumper. Bumper is really easy to take off

Agreed. EVERY video I've seen has been with the bumper off. There may be a way, but if there is I haven't seen it.

I think I remember reading someone was able to remove the individual slats to the Active Grille Shutter (AGS) without removing the front bumper? Highly doubt it was the entire unit though, but individual slats maybe. I believe he found a slat was stuck closed since it broke off from the rest of the louver system?

Bingo. thats what i read too, cant find anything on it though

Another option, until you replace the OEM intercooler, is to pull the AGS fuse when it's 100% open so it stays in that position at all times. If I remember, the shutters open 100% when the car is off and the fuse is #35? I'd double check that, but it's something to explore.

The fuse pull, at least on a 2016, sets the check engine light. I tried it.

i had my wife pull them out. she has little hands and they just snap into place on the end by a little tab. she pulled the bottom four out and then with the top open i just zip tied them open. my car started to get hot cause they werent opening.
