I just bought a generic down pipe (PLM) and am getting an insane clunk/click when I accelerate from a stop . I want to eliminate the fact that it's the cross brace hitting the hangers. I looked closely and can't really see any marks of it making contact. I saw some posts that the MBRP Catless downpipe had similar issues, but big question:

Is it safe to drive 2-3 mins without the cross brace? If I do that and it doesn't clunk, I can confirm that's the issue.

I've checked everything else, there is no contact points anywhere else. I hope this is the issue.

my instinct says no. the only reason i think so is because i know that leaving any brace off of the Porsches i work on i risk tweaking the chassis when i lower it back on the ground without it. its required that we attach the braces again before pushing the car off our rack. so if i was you i wouldnt. but who knows maybe nothing will happen

You could try wedging something in there thats heat resistant and wont melt, and see if that stops the noise, if it does then Id mod your cross brace. I would test it first though before you mod the brace.

I put in a couple washers between the brace and the body. This lowered it by a couple mm, which seemed to have done the trick.

I have the same downpipe and my problem is my exhaust is now hitting on the rear sub frame. What I might do to fix the issue is by cutting some extra piping when I do a resonator swap.

It's the hanger from the downpipe. I racked the car up at my job. You can cut maybe about 1/4 of an inch on the hanger and it might resolve the issue but I have yet to do it

Yes you will need to trim down the hangers until it quite banging into the subframe, I wouldn't advise running the car without the brace.

as mentioned above, i put in washers on the brace nuts. No more banging, etc. It's perfect now. Great product for the price. Super quiet though, with my stock exhaust. Doesnt even feel like i'm running a catless dp.
