Hey guys. Ive been doing some research on BOVs and am looking to pick one up (used most likely). I am looking for a unit that goes into the stock location and I think these are the two that fit the bill...correct me if I'm wrong or if I'm missing one. From what I understand, the Boomba is louder and a little more abrupt and the Turbosmart is a little quieter and less abrupt.

What I am wondering is, for people with either, do you find the Boomba to be too loud for every day driving or do you feel like the Turbosmart didn't achieve the sound level you were looking for. Finally, if you have one you want to part with, lets work a deal! haha.

I have a Boomba and absolutely love the sound. I guess it depends on personal preference as I believe they both accomplish the same goal. I plan on getting rid of my boomba soon and getting a CPE exhale kit with an HKS BOV. Sounds a thousand times better imo.

If you love scaring people with their windows down and on the side of the road, boomba is the best.

Turbosmart still definitely has a great sound to it, I turn plenty of heads.

I have the turbosmart and I'm happy with the sound as a daily. It's quiet when your easy on it but when you get into boost you'll have people looking and trying to figure out who's car is gonna blow up haha

I liked my Turbosmart 50/50 for a few years. Now I'm kind of tired of the sound and will be going back to stock BPV when I put on summer wheels. I wouldn't say it is obnoxiously loud, but it is a little obnoxiously aggressive. You build a little teeny bit of boost and PSHH.

If you are the kind of person who likes turning heads (a TON of heads) then the Boomba will most certainly accomplish the job. If you just want a nice BOV that will be less noticeable and don't want to draw a ton of attention to yourself, 50/50. I'm a big one on people turning their head and knowing it isn't just a regular Focus. So Boomba. And it's AWESOME. Plus, with loud exhausts you can still hear it and some others you can't as much.

The Boomba is indeed pretty loud. I've had one on my ST since I believe around March 2014, and over 100k miles. I've gotten so used to it I really don't even notice the noise anymore. It's never had a problem, and I've never had to do anything to it whatsoever.

I have had both boomba and turbosmart.

Boomba is the porn star. Turbosmart is the wife.

Boomba is overly loud and great on video, but gets to be too much in real life. Turbosmart is great to live with. You can still tell you are hitting the right spots but shes not over-acting.

I've never once thought the Boomba could be considered annoying or too much, so don't let that influence you too much. It's literally just like getting an exhaust, it's totally personal taste that decides if you think it's too much/nice. I don't even know how someone would think it's too much or too loud, but that's just me.

Yeah I agree, and should have added that to my post. Its personal opinion. Both sound good.

I used to have the Turbosmart. I loved it at first, then I kind of started to hate it. It sounded ok during aggressive driving but it was really annoying when it would go off under light load. It actually sounded more like a city bus releasing its air brakes than what you would expect a BOV to sound like. Keep in mind this will be literally all the time. Going up a slight hill? PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhh... Have cruise control set? PSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH... Your get the point... Judging off the Boombas I've heard, I imagine the experience would be similar but louder. Anyway, I ended up doing it right the second time; sold the Turbosmart, replaced it with an HKS SSQV. I couldn't be happier with my current setup! At the end of the day, it all about personal taste though.
