Oil Pressure Sender question

Does anyone know if the oil pressure sender is upstream of the filter or downstream. I installed the larger FL-400S oil filter vs. the OEM FL-910S based on Mountune recommendation. Now the oil pressure is higher and want to verify if it's because of more flow or less flow through the filter. Incidentally both filters are the same price at Walmart at less than FOUR bucks.

The oil pressure gauge is not a real oil pressure measurement. It’s an estimate based off engine rpm and coolant temp.

Wouldn’t worry at all.

That's a scary thought! If they aren't really measuring it and some chucklehead at the stealership doesn't get the filter tight or somehow the filter gets damaged, you can toast your engine and not even know it. That is, until it starts making those bad noises the gauge was supposed to warn you were coming!

Actually you don't have to worry about that either. There is an oil pressure switch at the filter housing, if there is no oil pressure it will flash a warning light on the dash, its just that the oil pressure gauge is only an estimate.
