This is my 1st Focus of any kind and so far I love it,,
Just bought myself a 2008 st3 with 89000mls, it's in decent condition and was looking to change the timing belt and water pump soon,
Is there any recommendations on manufacture /type I should get??

Welcome aboard!

I've personally installed numerous Gates kits on the Volvo 5 cylinder that lives in your ST. If you can get that brand in England, that would be my recommendation.

I have searched online and it's the gates brand that seems to come up more often than not,,
I usually do all my own services and repairs but never attempted timing belt on focus before,
Do you think it's best to give to garage to fit?

It really isn't that difficult of a job. Give this video a watch and see if it's something you have the tools and ambition to tackle. Definitely a job that can be done at home to someone with basic mechanical skills and tools.

Yeah it’s not difficult bud, I would highly recommend getting a crank pulley holding tool, it makes getting the crank pulley off much easier, by the way, did you know you’re on a US site, they didn’t get the mk2, go to the U.K. site focusstoc.com for loads of mk2 info.
