Hello fellow FoSt owners,

Before I start, I know that there are tuning threads and several sources of information that exist on the web. I would like to get some advice on here from other ST owners that have experience with tuning.

As of now I am driving a stock car with the Boomba RMM, Short shift kit, and I threw in a Green Filter. I have been out of the country for the better half of the last 6 months without much time to drive. Now that I am back for the foreseeable future I made a couple of bolt on purchases with the intent to purchase a CPE FMIC, and Intake within a few months.

Last week I purchased the Mountune turbo-back exhaust system and a COBB AP (from COBB). From what I understand, I would be able to install the exhaust system with a stage 1 map. I also found that installation of the DP would have negated effects paired with a stock cooling and intake system. So, the questions that I have are:

1) Do I install the exhaust and run stage 1 maps until I purchase the FMIC and intake at which point I would install the DP and re-tune?
2) Do I purchase custom tunes from Mountune? Is there much of a difference?
3) Do I wait until I have the other parts to install anything (I don't know the logistics of installing theses things but would rather not have to install the DP and exhaust at separate times)?
4) Are there negative effects of putting a full turbo-back system on an otherwise stock car?

1) Yes. The only benefit to the IC upgrade is it will limit power loss as heat soak sets in.

3) No reason to wait, I run my car with the stock IC, it requires roughly an hour cool down to ensure I get my timing back.
4) No, my car has been stock exhaust, stock exhaust with down pipe, now full exhaust.

Curious what makes you say that mountune tune is garbage. I'm looking into different tuners and would like to hear more.

My first tune was mountune it had more torque but wasn't very much of a difference coming from stock to stage 3. He is also not great to work with. I have met him in person. he is a douche. do sme research there are plenty of better tuners.

I ran all the Cobb OTS tunes for close to a year now, they were great for when I was doing my bolt ons. I am now in the process of getting my car tuned by Freektune, so far the customer service has been great! I hope to have some power number differences in the spring!

Doing intake and exhaust on a stock car is fine. but highly recommend a fmic!!

I would select a couple of tuners, Freektune, Panda, FSWerks, Stratified etc. email them your situation and see what they recommend and go from there. Generally adding a downpipe with out an upgraded intercooler can be done but like @djfourmoney said, the heat soak can get to be a bit much. Also tunes can differ from place to place. One place my try to get max HP and Torque another can focus on drive-ability or usable power. Its up to your end goal of the car whether its a daily, auto cross, drag etc. Let the tuner know your goals and let them do their work.

There are of course alot of big name tuners you can use but recently a bunch of guys from out local group (my self included Im stage one) went with tune + from adam. I had two revisions and tune complete within 3 days of purchase. We have a few other guys with bt running aux and also had there tunes done which solved alot of issues they were having with other tuners.
hes cheap too. 150$
