Got my head unit in today, a lot faster than expected. Seven days from Hong Kong to my door step on the east coast, not bad.
So I went out and played with it a bit. Got most stuff hooked up that I could identify (the "instructions" are pathetic). I've got most stuff working, but 2 things that aren't working that are highly important is my backup camera and hazard lights button. Putting the car in reverse activates the camera app, but it's just a black screen then comes up with No Signal. Hazard lights button does nothing at all, as does the lock / unlock button, but I wasn't expecting nor care if that button does anything. I do need the hazard lights though just in case.
Steering wheel controls are working. I haven't fully tested them, but volume works, and track next / previous works. Haven't tried call pick up / hang up yet. The voice button on the steering wheel activates something... I have no idea what it is. It's written in Chinese even though I have it set to English in the language settings. That was fun by the way, it defaulted to Chinese, had to randomly guess what to press to find a language selection lol.
There are some other problems too so far. It's getting some kind of interference on it, I can hear pieces of speech and static background whenever the speakers are "powered on" so to speak but no audio is playing. The wifi is also really weak. I don't know which wifi tech it's using, but to download gmaps update of ~55 MB it took like 15 minutes. I tested my phone connected to my wifi sitting in there car as well and can download 100 MBs in about 10 seconds. It's just got a tiny snub antenna on it, I've got some others around that might have better reception that I'll give a try.
The UI is also kind of meh. I wish I could change the mph / rpm bottom half of the screen to something else. I have that in front of me on the dash cluster, why do I need it on the radio too?
Anyway, I"m going to play with it more. But if I can't get the reverse camera working, it'll get returned. Not going to give up my backup camera for a radio hehe.
