just got back from the dealership.
Now I have hit a sort of mental roadblock I need your opinions on.
I went to the dealership with the intent to buy a 2016 Ford Focus ST with the ST3 package. I love the car, absolutely 100% positive I'm going to buy one.
Then I saw the Ford Fiesta ST, the exact color and "all the options" sitting close by with a sticker price $5,000 cheaper. So I sat in it, checked it out. And started to psyche myself out about the Focus ST being what I wanted.
THEN the dealer dropped a bombshell, unintentionally.
The 2017 production begins soon. The dealer didn't specifically mention there were going to be any changes (and there aren't for the most part), but as soon as I got home I went to the Ford website to see what if any changes may be in store for the 2017 production run of Focus ST's.
I noticed that Ford actually updated their website in the last couple of days with different options for the Focus ST, and they are now calling it the 2017 Focus ST. The immediate changes are that it will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. I absolutely have a need for Apple Car Play, I just invested in a 800$ IPhone 7 Plus so it would be nice to have. The second change I saw on the Ford Website was that the Moonroof was now standard in the ST3 package. You no longer have to buy it separately. Also the price has not gone up from the 2016 models. Oddly though they don't list any dealer installed options on the website yet, maybe they are still finalizing them.
I know if I pull the trigger on the Focus ST now, I will regret it if I didn't wait a couple of months to get a 2017 production run in order to get Apple Car Play(without having to have it added in later at the dealer through a software and hardware update) and save a little money on the MoonRoof potentially. There also may be more subtle differences in order to fix some of the issues that the 2016 models have had.
on the other hand my hype level is at 1000% percent to get the car in my driveway and start driving it.
Does anyone know when the 2017 models are going to start being produced? The dealer said it would be in December but that was his self admitted guess and he wasn't sure.
