Has anyone figured out how to remove the "mushroom"-shaped tie-down anchor on the right-hand side of the interior of the hatch area? I need to remove mine to remove the hatch interior right-hand side (passenger side) panel. It has two 7/64" holes in the cap, like a spanner wrench should be used, but no luck with that approach.

are you talking about the plastic push pins/anchors? There's an inexpensive tool you can get at most auto stores.
Pictures please

No. This is NOT a Christmas-tree fastener. This is a tie-down point for cargo located in the ST hatch area on the right. It is mushroom-shaped with two small holes in the cap. It appears to be mounted on a steel stud welded to the wheel-well housing/strut tower.
